Senators take third in golf tourney

Hosting the sixth annual Morgan Academy Invitational, the home-standing Senators took third place in play.

Morgan placed third overall with 320 strokes from its top four players but despite the low score of the day from Morgan’s Bain Hanning, they were 17 shots off the winning pace.

Hanning led all-tournament team with a round of 72.

He was joined by: Cole Willis of Macon-East who shot a 73, Clay Guerin of Lee-Scott who also shot a 73, Ben Bates of Fort Dale who shot a 75 and Matthew McLeod and Scott Strahmeyer of Lee-Scott who each shot a 76.

The Lee-Scott team finished with 303 strokes.

Macon-East finished in second with 319 strokes.

Other teams of local interested included 7th place Wilcox Academy (365), 11th place West Alabama Prep (400) and 12th place Marion Military (436).

The rest of the Morgan team scored included Miller Majors’ 79, Dylan Jones’ 83, Coal Brown’s 86 and Alden Marrow’s 86.

In the individual competition – which does not count against the team total – Morgan’s Rett Rivers had the low score with a round of 77.

The rest of Morgan’s scores were: Wallace Henson, 88, Bryant Hornsby, 89, Graham Mosley, 99, Jennifer Stewart, 106 and Seth Psomiadas, 124.
