Rosa Lee Hackett

Rosa Lee Hackett, 101, of Selma, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the West Trinity Baptist Church.

Rosa Lee Hackett was born February 18, 1904, the child of the late Floddie Young and the late Spencer Moore. Sr. Floddie, a young teenager mother, who was burdened with the responsibility of raising a baby; gave her child to her cousins, Alonzo and Sophie Hackett.

All of her brothers and sisters, except her youngest brother AC Barnes preceded her in death.

Deceased siblings include: Alex Westbrook, Edward Moore, Jim Moore, L.B. Adams, Charlie Moore, Dennis Moore, Willie Moore, Ernest Coleman, Ella Dee Hudson, Luella Burke, Mary Harris, Hattie Lee Moore, Paul Moore, Elnora Gayles, Tom Barnes, Luvenia Williams.

Rosa confessed Christ at an early age and joined Aimwell Baptist Church in Safford, Alabama. She moved to Alberta, Alabama, where she attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in her community until she moved to Selma in 1965. In Selma, she joined West Trinity Baptist Church, where attended until she became elderly. She also attended services at Warren Manor Nursing Home during her stay there.

Rosie was the mother of five children, Primpie Pettway (Tom-deceased) of Youngstown, Ohio, Bernice McMillian (Mack-deceased) of Selma, (Ruben Hackett died at age five), Willie Hackett (Hattie-deceased) of Mobile and Alfonso Hackett( Theresa-deceased)of Youngstown, Ohio; Like, her parents, Rosie extended her parenting and raised her three oldest grandchildren. Ruben Hackett of Selma, Ann Wallace of Montgomery

and Willie Hackett of Selma. She also raised her great-granddaughter, Darlene Rudolph (Greg) of Selma.

She also leaves to celebrate her life, 60 grandchildren. 44-great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Lottie Barnes

Lottie Barnes, age 93, of Montgomery, AL (formerly of Selma) passed away March 21, 2005.

Funeral services will be held March 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Barnes and Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Internment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. March 24, 2005.

She is survived by one son, Cecil (Barbara) Barnes of Montgomery, AL; one brother, William (Dorothy) Yawn of Aliceville, AL; 2 grandchildren, Allen Barnes and Sarah (Jarrod) Echols; 2 great grandchildren, Josh and Kyle Echols and a numbers of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Barnes and 4 brothers, Floyd, Charles, O’Dell and Richard Yawn.

Pallbearers will be Allen Barnes, Jarrod Echols, Bill Cleveland, Ronald Jowers, Fred Waldo, and Perry Yawn.

The family wishes to thank Crown Health Care of Montgomery, AL for all their love, care and support during Mrs. Barnes stay.

Jane Hughes

Jane Hughesm, 84, of Valrico, Florida passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Hughes.

Survivors include daughter, Glenda Hunter (Charles W. Hunter Jr.); grandchildren, James Gary Hunter (Janie) and Charles W. Hunter III (Katie); great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jesse.

A Native of Sharon, Tennessee, Jane resided in Valrico for the past 13 years coming from Selma, Alabama. Jane belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonist, The Colonial Dames and she was a Pink Lady.

Graveside Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama.

The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, Ala.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Bell Shoals Baptist Church.

Frances Jones, 84, of Selma, died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Selma.

Sadie Fields, 80, of Selma, died Friday, March 18, 2005, in Selma.

Charlie Webb

Charlie Webb, of Montgomery, died Monday, March 21, 2005.
