Percy Wright Jr., 43, of Selma, died Monday, March 14, 2005.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at Summer Grove Baptist Church with Pastor A.L. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. Percy and Deamie Wright; two sons, Barry and Chaderic; two brothers, Pastor Willie (Melanie) Wright and Steven Wright; one sister, Dorothy Wright; and special niece, Breana.

Charles Albert Singleton

Charles Albert Singleton, 80, died Wednesday March 16, 2005 in a Shelby Co. hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2005 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Cecil Williamson officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife; Lillian Morgan Singleton; his children, Mary Evelyn Singleton, John P. Singleton (Jessica), Dorothy Morgan Tatum (Don), John Lewis Morgan III (Louise), Robert L. Morgan (Audrey); seven grandchildren, Carolyn Singleton, Christopher Singleton, Renee Morgan Alsobrook (Earl), Suzanne Vardaman (Paul), Mallory Morgan, Morgan Tatum, and Savannah Tatum; one brother, William Frank Singleton (Joanne) and a cousin, Kenneth Sawyer (Liz).

Mr. Singleton is a veteran of World War II. He was a master aircraft mechanic and a pilot. He will be greatly missed by all.

Active Pallbearers will be: Robert L. Morgan, Don Tatum, Robert Stone, Earl Alsobrook, Paul Vardaman, and Kenneth Sawyer. Honorary pallbearers are John Lewis Morgan, III, Homer Lee Holland, Dr. Sam Evans, Jr. and Dr. Jack Burns.

Willie Ann Smiley Barnett

Willie Ann Smiley Barnett, of Selma, died Friday, March 11, 2005.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Selma, with the Rev. A.L. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

A.C. Harris Jr.

A.C. Harris Jr., 57, a resident of Montgomery, AL, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at New Bethel Church with the Rev. J. D. Ruffin officiating.

Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Ulysses Burrell

Ulysses “C.C.” Burrell, 44, of Demopolis, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Catherine, AL.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Nazareth of Galilee Baptist Church of Demopolis, with the Rev. Jesse Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home Directors of Demopolis directing.

Frances Green-Hollins

Frances Green-Hollins, 88, of Forkland, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at a hospital in Detroit, Mich.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church, Forkland, with the Rev. Clayborn May officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home Directors of Demopolis directing.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.

John Milner Parker

John Milner Parler, 96, a lifelong resident of Jones, Alabama, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, with Pastor Edwin Cumbie officiating. Burial will follow at Jones in the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery.

John Milner was preceded in death by his beloved spouse of over 65 years, Doris Smedley Parker.

He is survived by one son, John M. Parker Jr. (Jan) of Jones; two daughters, Cleta Reinhart; (Tom) of Prattville and Diane Teel (Charles) of Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many others relatives and friends.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS Idaho, and retired from the civil service at Craig Air Force Base, Selma, AL in 1969.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bice, Jimmy Smedley, Robert Smedley, Bill Price, Tommy Fischer and Thomas Blue.

Honorary pallbearers will be Berlie Hamrick, J.W. McCullough, Cecil Smedley, Lee Bender, Calbert Colee, M.A. Pearson and Bill Grover.

Visitation will be at Lawrence Funeral Home, Selma, Friday evening March 18, from 6-8 p.m.

The family wishes to thank Wiregrass Hospice for their professional care and services during the John Milner’s illness. They also give special thanks to Mrs. Vera Cain for her care giving and compassion.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, 1225 Co. Rd. 103, Jones, AL 36749, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Frank Patt, 76, of Farmersville, died Sunday, March 13, 2005.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Pine Flat Baptist Church with the Rev. Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing,

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Patt; one stepson, Charles Howard; one niece, Gloria Powell; two brothers, Jesse Gunner and Cobb Lyman; three sisters, Edna McCrary, Mary Walker and Annie Bell; one grandchild; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Active pallbearers will be Pine Flat Baptist Church Deacon Board.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse, Gunner, Percy McCrary, James Walker, Ed Bell. R.D. Lewis and Richard Moultrie.

Mr. Patt was a devoted husband, father and loving uncle. He was a member of Pine Flat Baptist Church. He loved music and was an experienced musician in his spare time.

Miriam M. Stallen

Miriam M. Stallen, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Pet Hatcher

Pet Hatcher, of Jones, died Saturday, March 12, 2005.

Services will be held at 12 noon at New Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Harrison Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Carl Hatcher; four daughters, Annie Graves, Rockell Calhoun, Geneva Hatcher and Florence McCary; and three sisters, May Ella Parker, Josie Tripp and Katie Lee Tripp.

Richard Lee

Richard “Zip” Lee, 55, of Selma, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Min. Debra Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife Emma Lee; parents, James and Lee Ola Lee; one son, Maurice Childs; one brother, David Lee of Selma; sisters, Ola Bell Lee of Selma, Lovenia Tabb of Detroit, Mich., and Jessie Burns of Niagra Fall, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; 17 nephews; 18 nieces; and

a host of great-nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lee Sr. and Johnson Lee and one sister, Lottie Mae Safford.

Active pallbearers are nephews and friends.

L.C. Foster

L.C. Foster, 61, of Montgomery, formerly of Marion, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 19, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Eagle Grove Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Anthony Foster, Howard Foster, Earnest Foster, Larry Foster and Gregory Foster; one daughter, Linda (George) Holloway; two brothers, Issac (Barbara) Thomas and J.C. Cole; a host of nieces and nephews; very special friends, Bobbie Ames, John B. Ames Jr. and Dave Ames of Montgomery.

Joe Lee Lamar Jr.

Joe Lee Lamar Jr., 72, of Jones, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at a Selma hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at St. Matthews Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mallard Chapel Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Chapel in Selma.

Survivors include his wife Earnestine Lamar; three sons, Ezzard Chappell (Willie Jane), Curtis Lamar and Isadore Howard (Rochelle); seven daughters, Doraella Jones, Bernice Perry, Brenda Smith (Melvin), Nina Lamar, Rita Dennis (Sylvester), Cassandra Lamar and Alfreda Lamar; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
