Rev. Terry Bassett
Rev. Terry Bassett, 45, of Uniontown, AL was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Friday, March 11, 2005, in Uniontown, AL.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at the R.C. Hatch Gymnasium of Uniontown with Rev. Phillip White presiding.
Services will culminate on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Peter RB. Church of Bessemer, with Rev. Solomon Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Garden Cemetery with Phillip White’s Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.
The remains of Rev. Terry Bassett will lie-in-state on Tuesday March 15, 2005 beginning at 6:00p.m. at the R.C. Hatch High School Gymnasium and on Wednesday March 16, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Peter P.B. Church of Bessemer.
Rev. Terry Bassett Sr. was born on March 31, 1959, to the late Mr. James Bassett, Sr. and Mrs. Clarice Bassett. Rev. Terry Bassett confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 7 at St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church Bessemer AL, under the pastorialship of Rev. W. A. Clarke.
Rev. Bassett married his high school sweetheart, Rosalyn Pierce on May 29, 1982. To this union two wonderful children were born. The older Terry Jr. and the younger Tenathius Pierce Bassett.
To cherish his memory are his wife, Dr. Rosalyn Pierce Bassett; two sons Terry Bassett Jr. and Tenathius Pierce Bassett; brothers, Valentio Bassett, Bessemer, AL and James Bassett Jr, Greenville SC.; sisters, Deborah (Jimmy) Spraggins, Birmingham, AL and Eunice (Willie) Canty, Greenville, S.C.; a great aunt Edna Cotton, Bessemer, AL; Uncles, James(Ovetta) Williams, Bessemer, AL. Calvin (Anna) Williams, Birmingham, AL. Aunts, Augusta Morrison, Birmingham AL and Joyce Hollis, Buffalo, NY; his extended family, mother-in-Law, Roxanne T. Pierce, Bessemer AL. sisters, Brenda (Isaac) Yelder Watkinsville, GA., Valerie (Ronald) Buford, Birmingham, AL., Nathel (Jeffery) Dubose, Birmingham, AL: brother, Nathaniel (Deirdre)Pierce Jr.; a special son, Theotis (Kaye) Dudley, Uniontown, AL; Oak Grove P.B. Church, Uniontown, AL, Canaan Shore P.B. Church, Boligee, AL; and a host of relatives and friends.
Dorothy Ann Tate -Johnson
Dorothy Ann Tate -Johnson, 50, of Birmingham, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Ward Chapel Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include father, Leo Mitchell; two sons, Kenneth Johnson (Corjarita) and Scott Galloway (Nakeshia); two daughters, Latreesa Hall (Johnny) and Carlandra Johnson; brother, Nathan Edwards, Kenneth (Sue Lee) Edwards, Darryl Edwards (Cheryl), Anthony Edwards (Lacretia), ReNardo Edwards (Natrisha), Leo Suttles, George Suttles, James Suttles and Harry Mitchell; three sisters, Sandra Underwood (William), Dalphenia Allen (Bruce) and Doris Mitchell; four grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and two very special friends, Warren Williams and Cynthia Horton.
Active pallbearers are family and friends.
Esther Frances Pierson
Esther Frances Pierson, of Camden, formerly a longtime resident of Montgomery, age 75, died Sunday March 13, 2005, at a Camden Nursing Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 17, 2005, in Old Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Ron Lee, of the Camden United Methodist Church officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Miss Pierson is survived by several cousins, William Francis Russell and his wife Linda of Titusville, FL; Robert Arch Russell and his wife Janet of Mims, FL; Amanda Adams Johnson and her husband Billy of Camden.
As an alternative to flowers the family suggests donations to the Humane Society.
Sallie M. Walker
Sallie M. Walker, of Selma, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at a local hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
William Clyde Swindal
William Clyde Swindal, 86, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Johnson officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Jones Baptist Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Maude Swindal of Jones; sons, Wayne (Faye) Swindal of Sprott and Johnny Swindal of Marion; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Raymond) DeRamus of Montgomery; grandsons, Scott Swindal and Shane Swindal; great-grandchildren, McKalya Swindal and Johnny Swindal. Active pallbearers will be Gerald Jordan, Grady Blevin, Elliot Lester, Bob Ed Reed, Danny Blue and Tommy Kelly.
