William Stewart McKenzie
William Stewart McKenzie, of Birmingham, died March 6, 2005.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in the New Live Oak Cemetery.
Reverend Lee Tate will be officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McKenzie, a former resident of Selma is survived by his wife, Joy Suttle McKenzie of 45 years, his son Dr. Bill McKenzie (Tracey), and his daughter Cynthia McKenzie.
He is also survived by his grand children Mallory Grace McKenzie, Madison Joy McKenzie, Sawyer Avery McKenzie and Molly Stewart McKenzie.
He is also survived by his brother R.B. McKenzie Jr. (Rosemary) of Point Clear, AL and a sister, Jean McKenzie Oast (Ed) of Portsmouth, VA and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McKenzie was born in Selma, son of Ruby and Richardson McKenzie.
He graduated from Parrish High School in 1951, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from the University of Alabama.
He was President of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
After graduation he practiced accounting in Decatur where he was a Certified Public Accountant.
He was a life long member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He was also co-chairman of United Appeal, a board member of the Alabama Rehabilitation Center and Rotary Club.
At his retirement he was president of Stewart, King & McKenzie Wholesale.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Parrish High School Class of 1951.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. in the Mallory Parlor at First Baptist Church Selma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alabama Disease Center, 1720 7th Ave S, SC42, Birmingham, AL 35294.
Harris King
Harris King, 62, of Dallas County, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at a healthcare facility.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 608 St. Phillips St., with Bro. James Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two brothers, John King and Timothy King; six sisters, Annie Henderson, Mary Scott, Savannah Oliver, Ruth Thomas, Dorothy King and Jessie Hale; four brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are family and friends.
Rosie Hardy
Rosie Hardy, 83, of Hayneville, died Monday, February 28, 2005.
Funeral Services were held Saturday March 05, 2005, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Gillard Baptist Church
with the Rev. Sylvester Bruce officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.
Frederick Cook Sr.
Frederick Cook Sr., 61, of Selma, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at a Montgomery hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Stanley Hickey officiating. Burial will follow in College Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife Mary Cook of Lanham, Md.; mother, Sarah Cook of Selma; one daughter, Kimberly Cook of Washington, D.C.; one son, Frederick Cook, Jr. of Selma; two step-sons, Wade Simmons of Lanham, Md., and Paul Brown of Birmingham; four brothers, Danny Cook, William P. “Bubba” (Margaret) Cook, Robert Cook and Luther (Patricia) Cook all of Selma; four sisters, Mary Lawson of Clanton, Eddie Enoch, Pearlie Cook-Wright (Raymond) of Selma and Jacqueline Elliott of Montgomery; one granddaughter, Sierra Cook of Washington, D.C.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kalandrea Valencia Edwards, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, March 01, 2005.

Cory Allen Blackmon
Cory Allen Blackmon, died Friday March 4, 2005, in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 9, 2005, at Ocmulgee Baptist Church officiated by Dr Robert Taylor and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.
Cory is survived by his parents, Allen L. and Carrie P Blackmon, his sister Alicia Grace Blackmon, grandmother, Grace Parrish, uncles Ron Blackmon and his wife Carol, Patrick Parrish, Mike Parrish and his wife Wanda, aunts, Kay Wilson, Cheryl Bonham and her husband Doug, great uncle, Ben Ansley; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nell Blackmon, Jettie Lee “Red” Blackmon, Lewis P Parrish and his brother Clint Blackmon.
As an alternative to flowers the family suggests donations to the Ronald McDonald House 621 Oak Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
The family will greet friends at Lawrence Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

James Blake Murphy, Sr.
James Blake Murphy, Sr., 67, died Sunday, March 6, 2225 at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 1 .m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Rimmer and the Rev. Alan Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Cecil Williamson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Family visitation will be from will be Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Dorothy W. Murphy; daughters, Debbie Bamberg and Donna Shelby and husband Rickey; and son, James Blake Murphy Jr. and wife Donna; seven grandchildren, Brooke Bamberg, Lindsey Bamberg, Will Bamberg, Dylan Shelby, Landon Shelby, Justin Murphy and Jennifer Murphy; and mother-in-law, Grace E. White of Sprott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Ruth Murphy, son-in-law, Keith Bamberg and father-in-law, James White.
