Thomas L. Mauldin Jr.

Thomas L. Mauldin Jr., 96, died Friday, February 11, 2005 at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Pine Valley Memorial Garden on Highway 22 North in Selma with J. H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Mauldin was born on Oct. 2, 1908 in Cahaba to the late Mr. Thomas Mauldin Sr. and Mrs. Selena Mitchell Mauldin. He was the second oldest of ten children. Seeking employment, he came to Selma at the age of 16.

While visiting in Sardis, he met the beautiful Miss. Ardies Wellington. She became his bride of 66 years. She died on March 3, 1997. They were lifetime members of Green Street Baptist Church in Selma.

Mrs. Mauldin is survived by three sons, McDonald Mauldin, George Mauldin Sr. and Charles Mauldin; four daughters, Deloris M. Glover, Ardies M. Peeples, Tommie M. Byrd and Ernestine M. Dudley; brother, Mr. Eugene Mauldien; three sisters, Rozetta Simpson, Pinkie Travis and Rutha Lee Harris; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great great grandchildren, nine great great great grandchildren; one cousin, Mr. Clarence Mauldin; two sons-in-laws, two daughters-in-laws, five brothers-in-laws, five sisters-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mauldin was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Thomas Mauldin Sr. and Mrs. Selena Mitchell Maudlin, three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Mauldin and his wife were the first two people to register to vote in Dallas County as the result of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

The family greatly appreciate the care provided by Dr. DeGraft H. Yankah, his nurse Mary Ann, Mr. Ricky James, his home care provider, Nurse John on duty at 2:30 a.m. on January 24 in the ER of Vaughan Regional, third floor nursing staff of Vaughan Regional and the staff of Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Kathleen Watson Fuller

Kathleen Watson Fuller, 94, of Furman, died Friday, February, 11, 2005 at J. Paul Jones Hospital in Camden. She was a recent resident of Camden Nursing Facility.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Derby Fuller and brother, Lawler F. Watson of Panama City, Fla.

Survivors include her son, Felix David Fuller (Gail) of Oak Hill and one granddaughter, Jean Marie Fuller of Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14 at the Bethsaida Baptist Church in Furman. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. at Palmer Cemetery on County Road 59 in Furman with

Henry Lewis Smith and Rev. Willie Crawford officiating and Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home of Greenville directing.

Pallbearers will be the elders of Bethel ARP Church in Oak Hill and members of Bethsaida Baptist Church in Furman.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Palmer Cemetery Fund.

Mary Martin English

Mary Martin English, of Selma, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 in Selma.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.
