Chase ends in car wreck

An accident ended a police chase early Sunday morning on Franklin Avenue and Philpot Street, when Christopher Ward hit a telephone pole while drive a white SUV, according to reports.

Reports state that 21-year-old Ward was attempting to elude police when the accident occurred, sometime after midnight.

Ward was driving the car. Another 21-year-old, Darryl D. Struggs, was also in the car, stated reports.

Several officers, about six altogether, participated in the arrest, police said.

Several juveniles were trapped in the vehicle when it overturned.

Injury reports were incomplete at presstime.

Selma Firefighters were called to the scene shortly after the accident, and pulled the youths from the vehicle.

Reports state that Ward had a pistol when the incident occurred.

Struggs and Ward were both charged with multiple counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Ward was also charged with sexual misconduct, driving under the influence and carrying a pistol without a license.

Selma police are currently investigating the incident.

Ward and Struggs were both arrested an transported to the Dallas County Jail.

Ward was later released on a $3,000 bond. Struggs, as of yesterday, was still being held on a $1,000 bond.
