Stanley Eugene Williams

Stanley Eugene Williams, 53, of Safford, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at a healthcare facility in Montgomery.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at Christian Light M.B. Church, Safford, with the Rev. Alex Tenner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Claudette Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; mother, Daisy Williams of Safford; two sons, Stanley Williams Jr. and Samuel Williams of Detroit, Mich.; seven brothers, Cecil (Rosie) Williams of Alberta, Robert and Willie Williams of Safford, Jimmy (Harriet) Soloman, Willie (Sherri) Solomon of Detroit, Mich., Larry (Linda) Soloman of Washington, D.C. and Dennis (Fannique) Soloman of Uniontown; four sisters, Annie Williams and Amanda Williams of Safford, Grace Powell and Mary (Robert) Blevins of Selma; three grandchildren; one brother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Williams was a truck driver for the United Postal Services in Buffalo, N.Y. for 10 years.

John Richard Rumph

Services for John Richard Rumph was held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2005, at Mt. Sillia Baptist Church in Clayton.

Mr. Rumph was the brother of Bishop Letha Rumph Jr. and Arthur Rumph of Selma.

Hattie M. Rumph

Hattie M. Runph, died Saturday, January 21

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, at Mt. Sillia Baptist Church in Clayton.

Survivors include her sons, Bishop Letha (Barbara) Rumph and Arthur (Mabel) Rumph all of Selma.

Baby Jekevion Carlisle

Baby Jekevion Carlisle, 18 months, of Marion, died Saturday, January 22, 2005.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 29, at Free Will Baptist Church in Marion with the Rev. Lovell Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Deyampert Cemetery with Lee and Rollins Funeral

Home directing.

John Dewitt Pugh

John Dewitt Pugh, 89, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at a Prattville nursing home.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 28, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Pugh is survived three daughters, Helen Cook, Hazel (Hugh) Plummer, and Brenda Foshee; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lillian Brunaon, Vera (Agnew) Brunson, Margie Britton, Katie Dell Brunson; two brothers, Elroy Pugh, Melvin Pugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Pugh, two sisters, and one brother.

Family visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

James Cecil Redd, Sr.

James Cecil Redd, Sr. 97, died Thursday January 27, 2005 at his home.

Services are 2 p.m., Saturday January 29, at the Chapel at Lawrence Funeral Home with John Mount and David Bell officiating. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Redd is survived by five sons, James Cecil (Patricia) Redd, Jr. of Selma, Robert Eugene Redd of Selma, Thomas Edward (Margaret) Redd of Lafayette, Ga., Jack Allen (Nancy) Redd of Birmingham and Bernard Russell (Kay) Redd of Selma; one daughter, Wanda Redd (Johnny) Mount of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren. Summer Redd, Gina Redd (Larry) Callaway, Robert Eugene (Rexene) Redd, Jr., Jason (Heather) Redd, Travis Redd, Amy Redd (David) Bell, Laurie Redd (Stephen) Shows, Kim Smitherman, Jamie Mount, Gia Mount, Johanna Mount, 12 great-grandchildren; one nephew, Stanley Edward Strain of Orange Beach; and three nieces, Lillian Pankey Fitzgerald, Ellen Pankey, and Elizabeth Pankey Vrachalus all of Mobile.

He was preceded In death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Pearson Redd.

Family visitation will be Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Sylvester Henley, 51, of Boilgee died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at a hospital in Eutaw.

Services will be held Saturday, January 29, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church, Boligee, Elder Maurice Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Knott Cemetery, Boligee, with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.

Rev. Willis Hurns

Rev. Willis Hurns, 76, of Demopolls, died Monday, January 24, 2005, at his residence.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Christian Chapel Baptist Church, Demopolis, with the

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Boyd, his daughter, Jackie Brown and two sisters, Emma McConnell and Irene Blythes.

Ron Walton, of Alexandria, Va., a former native of Thomaston, died Saturday, January 22, 2005.

Services will be held Sunday, January 30, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Thomaston, with the Rev. Tubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Cade Chapel Cemetery, Hugo, with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.

The remains will repose at the church on Sunday beginning at 10:15 a.m.

Johnny Leverette

Johnny Leverette, 53, of Sprott, died Sunday, January 23, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at Baptist Academy in Marion, with the Rev. O.C. Dobynes officiating. Burial will follow in Daniel Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Emma Williams, 79 of Linden, died Friday, January 21, 2005, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the Sand Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, Myrtlewood, with the Rev Oliver Whitt officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.

Family hour will be held Friday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel

R. C. Johnson Sr.

R. C. “Pee Wee” Johnson Sr., 77, of Selma, died on January 25, 2005, at a hospital in Alabaster.

Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 28, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Clifford Moore and the Rev. Donald Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Johnson survivors include his wife of 48 years, Frances Jowers Johnson of Selma; one son, Richmond C. (Ricky) Johnson, Jr.; a devoted daughter-in-law, Shanna Reid Johnson; one granddaughter, Chelsea Lynette Johnson; one grandson, Richmond C. (Tripp) Johnson Ill all of Selma. He is also survived by four brothers, Vernon Johnson of Lisman, William “Skeeter” Johnson of Putnam, Robert Johnson of Homewood, John Lee Johnson of Foley; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Kearly of Butler, Katherine Grice of Kentwood, La., and Virginia Thompson of Butler; and numerous faithful friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Quincy and Rushie Johnson of Choctaw County, and by one brother, Dan Johnson of Trussville.

Active pallbearers will be Barry Hood, Lee Hess, Sherman Faile, Jimmy Day, Tye Reid, Randy Fiester. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, William Maze, Carson Jones and Freeman T. (Rusty) Reid Jr.

Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, January 28, from 12:30 until 2:00 p. m. at Selma Funeral Home.
