To the editor:

With a heavy heart and after much consideration and prayer I submitted a letter of resignation Monday night

with the intent to retire effective July 1, 2005.

Since the Board extended my contract last spring, there have been circumstances that I could not have foreseen.

Because of these circumstances, I believe it is in the best interest of my family and me to retire earlier than anticipated. The Board voted to accept my request.

At this time I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting my administration.

I feel truly blessed to have had the privilege of developing permanent friendships with the community, administration, staff, faculty, and students for nearly 32 years.

I am prepared to offer my services to our School Board and immediately begin the selection process for the appointment of a new Superintendent for the Dallas County School System.

Please be prayerful for them as they pursue a superintendent who will take our system to newer and greater heights. Our children deserve nothing less than the very best. Please also pray for my family and me as I enter into this new chapter of my life.

My prayer is that God will continue to bless you and the children of Dallas

County.

With my warmest and best regards,

Wayne K. May

Superintendent

Dallas County Schools
