Qwenisha Arrington pumped in 34 points as the Class 3-A Francis Marion Lady Rams knocked the R. C. Hatch Lady Bobcats from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 58-42 thumping Saturday night in Marion.

Using a stingy full court defense and the play of Arrington the Lady Rams improved to 8-4 on the season.

“She was unbelievable from beginning to end,” said Coach Cathy Trimble of her junior guard.

“We want to play a full court offense; get it (the ball) in her hands and run,” she continued.

And run the Rams did.

Their pressure defense created numerous easy baskets as the host sprinted out to a 28-11 half time lead.

The top-ranked Class 2-A Lady Bobcats couldn’t get their running game going and are not accustomed to playing from behind.

The Lady Cats couldn’t find the range from behind the three-point arc in the second half and Marion marched to the free throw line for 29 attempts after intermission.

Jamarcia Cheese and Sierra Miller lead the Hatch cause with 12 points each.

Kristian Lipscomb added 11 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks for the Lady Rams and Arrington added nine rebounds to go with six assists and six steals.

The Lady Rams return to action Friday night hosting Aliceville in area play.
