Late run propels Hornets

All five Dallas County High School starters scored in double figures Tuesday night and the Hornets went on to beat host Greensboro, 69-53.

Leading by just one point entering the fourth period, Dallas County outscored Greensboro 20-5 in the final period to coast to the victory.

Michael Johnson and Rafel Miller scored 16 points apiece to pace the Hornets (7-7, 2-0 in area play). Josh Spears followed with 15 points, while Antonio Perry and Artelious Dixon chipped in 12 and 10 points each, respectively.

“It was a big win,” Dallas County coach Bill Porter Jr. said, “especially because it was an area win on the road.”

Dallas County led after the first quarter, 12-11, before Greensboro rallied to forge at 26-26 halftime tie.

Dallas County regained a 49-48 lead at the end of the third period.
