Pearl Perdue Swink

Pearl Perdue Swink, 97, died Sunday December 26, 2004, in Newport News, Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday January 3, 2005, at Carlowville Cemetery with Rev. Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Swink Prillaman, and her husband, Henry, of Newport News, Virginia; a son, Joe Melton Swink and his wife, Alice, of Selma; two grandchildren, Katherine Ellen Prillaman of Greenwood, Indiana and Henry Melton Prillaman and his wife Christina of Newport News, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Prillaman and William Wells Prillaman of Newport News, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Carlowville Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Carlowville Cemetery Fund.

Mrs. Swink was born in 1907 in Dallas County, Alabama where she lived for 95 years. Educated at Alabama College in Montevallo, she received a B.S. degree in 1928.

She taught school in Camden before her marriage in 1932. She was a life-long member of the Carlowville Baptist Church. Mrs. Swink was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe Swink of Carlowville.

In retirement they both lived in Selma.

Rosa Mary Ford Porter

Rosa Mary Ford Porter, 73, of Sardis, died Saturday, December 25, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 31, at New Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Stevenson Tullis officiating. Burial will follow in Old Shady Grove Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Porter; one sister, Julia M. Ford; other relatives, aunt, Mattie Moore; uncle, Eddie Porter; cousins, Annie McRae and Bessie Jackson; special friends, Lillie Simpson and Carl Saulsberry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are friends of the family.

Mrs. Porter was a member of the Eastern Star affiliated with Electa Chapter #205.

Donnie Bell Ford

Donnie Bell Ford, 79, of Sardis, died Monday, December 27, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 31, at New Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Stevenson Tullis officiating. Burial will follow in Old Shady Grove Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one sister, Julia M. Ford; one nephew, Jerry Porter; aunt, Mattie Moore; uncle, Eddie Porter; cousins, Annie McRae and Bessie Jackson; special friends, Lillie Simpson and Carl Saulsberry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dallas Ray Boswell

Dallas Ray Boswell, 67, of Selma died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31, at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Burial will followed at 3 p.m. in Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Greenville, with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include by his former wife and caregiver of 26 years Sandra Boswell; three sons, Darrick (Tami) Boswell, Mark (Melissa)Boswell and Dale (Ruth) Boswell all of Selma; one daughter, Karen Boswell (Brett) Moore of Selma; three sisters, Annette (Dean) Thompson, Laura (Zurrel) Little both of Greenville and Shirley Leverett of Selma; and three grandchildren, Paige Boswell, Jessie Boswell and Shelby Boswell all of Selma.

He is survived also by his faithful dog, Jill.

Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. Boswell and Lillie Mae Boswell and a brother, Edward Boswell.

Active pallbearers will be Gordon Gougler, Clint Leverett, Buddy Alsbrook, Garrett White, Jeff Thompson and Britt Steward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Taylor, Dennis Boswell, Donnie Harris, Danny Leverett, Jimmy Powell, Vernon Rollins, Eddie Boswell and David Little.

Family visitation will be Thursday, December 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home

Louise Sills Boley

Louise Sills Boley, 79, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 31, at New Live Oak Cemetery with William E. Mott officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Boley is survived by her husband; Ivan B. Boley, Sr.; son, Ivan B. Boley, Jr.; daughter, Nancy Mott; three grand-children, Tiffany Brady, Kristie Smith, Cheryl Harris; seven great-grandchildren, Jason Smith, Brandon Lee, Devin Lee, Aaron Lee, Bonner Harris, Caroline Harris, and Dalton Brady.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Jared Mott, and Robb Gordon, Teddy Boley, James Boley, and Russell Harris.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Louis Morris Jr.

Louis “Cricket” Morris Jr., 68, of the Saltwell Community (Demopolis), died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Friday, December 31, at John Essex High School auditorium in Demopolis. Burial will follow in Miller’s Chapel Cemetery in Demopolis with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state in the auditorium beginning at 12 noon.

Nancy Ruth Faulk Twardy

Nancy Ruth Faulk Twardy, 87, formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at St. Martin’s in the Pines, Birmingham.

Arrangements will be announced later by Lawrence Funeral Home.
