Four Meadowview Christian School players scored in double figures and the Trojans overcame a first-quarter deficit to beat host Kingwood Christian, 55-40, on Monday.
Dustin Lee had a team-high 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds for the Trojans (7-2). Chris Sewell added 14 points and dished out six assists, while Derek Lassiter tossed in 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Aaron Raines chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Kingwood Christian opened the game on a 10-0 run and led 17-12 after the first period.
That advantage, however, was short-lived as the Trojans outscored Kingwood 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 25-23 halftime lead.
“We settled down and started running our offense,” MCS coach Rick Raines said. “When we hit the boards and those guys score in double figures, we win ball games.”
The Trojans broke the game open in the third period, outscoring Kingwood 17-8 to grab a comfortable 42-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Overall, the Meadowview Christian defense surrendered just 17 second-half points en route to the victory.
