Charlie Eaton

Charlie Eaton, 78, of Dallas County, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Samuel Cleveland officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, William Eaton, Roger Eaton, David Eaton, James (Lynn) Eaton and Charles Eaton; three daughters, Emma Eaton Lee, Mary Alice Lewis and Hazel LeFlore; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Lewis Brothers Funeral directors.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons.

Mr. Eaton was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the City of Selma.

Dorothy Ellen Parten

Dorothy Ellen Parten, 59, of Selma, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Lee Parten, Sr.; two sons, Herman Lee Parten, Jr. of Montgomery and Richard Monroe Parten of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughters, Wanda Ann McCormick of Selma; one brother, Fred (Buddy) Lawson Stringer, Jr. of Magnolia Springs; two sisters, Sue Ann Parten of Selma and Elizabeth Barger of Northport.

Family visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Ashley Williamson, Russell Williamson, Rocky Williamson, Shane Williamson, Jimmy Johnson and Leon Parten.

Betty Morgan White

Betty Morgan White of Panama City, Fla., died Friday, December 10, 2004.

Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include a niece, Hope White Williams, two nephews, John Morgan White, Jr. and Christopher Gwin White, all of Birmingham, and special friends, Elaine and Don W. Sanders of Panama City.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Morgan White.

Ms White was born in Uniontown, on September 16, 1914, to Addie Morgan and John Gwin White.

She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Uniontown.

She attended Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, graduated from the University of Alabama, was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and received a Master’s degree in social work from Tulane University.

Landis McMillon Jr.

Landis “Tommy” McMillon Jr.,56, of Tuscaloosa, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, in Northport.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 17, at the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Brannon Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroeville, with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Dot and Landis McMillon of Selma; two brothers, Mike McMillon of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Allen McMillon of Kodak, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. McMillon was a native of Conecuh County and former resident of Monroeville. He had been office manager for Southern Forest Services for 11 years.

Family visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
