The scent of fir trees, stunning poinsettia and the sounds of seasons’ greeting keep the employees of Four Seasons nursery happy throughout the busiest time of the year.

“We have a great time,” part-time employee Joy Thompson said. “We just enjoy the whole season, everybody’s in a good mood.”

Every year, Four Seasons orders over a hundred Fraser Fir Christmas trees and almost always sells out.

Coupled with the businesses poinsettia sales, the nursery is a constant bustle of activity.

The place is so busy during the Christmas season that Four Seasons has to hire two extra employees just to make it through.

None of it bothers the staff of six.

They pride themselves on selling the best foliage the Christmas season has to offer every year.

“It’s really a top of the line Christmas tree,” Thompson said.

The fir has proven so popular this year, Thompson said that the 140 trees ordered this year are almost sold out.

“We have just a few small trees left,” Thompson said.

“Small” is a relative term at Four Seasons.

Their trees, even the smallest, are giants. The nursery carries trees ranging from respectable six-footers to the regal 10-feet-tall trees.

“The big ones are the ones that a lot of people like,” Thompson said. “They’re almost perfect in shape.”

As an added bonus, the nursery offers to deliver, set up and even decorate the trees for customers.

Also, the company creates live wreaths and garlands and makes bows and other decorations for the holiday season.

Four Seasons is located at 611 Cahaba Road.
