The Selma Chapter of Jack & Jill is preparing for their annual “Breakfast with Santa” this Saturday at the Hampton Inn
on Highland Ave.
and Santa himself will be making an appearance.
The local civic organization is partnering with the new hotel for the second year in a row for this charitable affair.
“We’re just excited to once again host this wonderful event that brings such joy to children in our community,” a spokesperson for the event said.
The group expects more than 100 children to come out and see Santa Claus this Saturday.
Selma’s Jack & Jill chapter was chartered in 1991, and has been hosting this Santa Breakfast since its inception.
“Chapters all around the country hold a Santa Breakfast in their communities every year in partnership with a major corporation,” said Felecia Pettway, past president of the local chapter.
“We have had a really positive relationship with the Hampton Inn for the last two years,” said Pettway. “They go out of their way to make sure that it’s really special for the kids in the community.”
JD Davis, general manager for the Hampton Inn, said he had a great time last year and is looking forward to this year.
The hotel went out and had a tree cut and our busy decorating the lobby in preparation for Saturday said Pettway.
According to Geraldine Wofford, team sponsor for this event, parents and kids who come out will be served all of the items on the Hampton Inn breakfast hot bar as well as a few extras.
The children will then have an opportunity to visit with Santa and to get their christmas lists out in time for the big day.
“This is one of the best events we host for Jack and Jill, but not the only one,” said Wofford. “We have an Easter egg hunt and a halloween party every year to for all of the children in the community not just our members.”
Jack and Jill is a national, non-profit organization for mothers and children between the ages of two and 19.
The organization is aimed at promoting social activity, education and public service.
Breakfast with Santa starts at 9:00 a.m. and has a $5 admission. Proceeds from the event will be donated to charity.
