Ardrilla Shaw Burrell

Ardrilla Shaw Burrell, 97, of Catherine, died Monday, November 15, 2004.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, November 20, at Bethel AME Church in Catherine, with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Lola Ralls Cross

Lola Ralls Cross, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004, in Selma.

She was the widow of Thomas Hudson Cross.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 19, at First United Methodist Church in Gadsden, Al, followed by graveside services at Forest Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Lola Ralls Cross; her sons, the Reverend Thomas H. Cross, Jr. (Ruth) of Naperville, Ill., Dr. Bracey H. Cross (Peggy) of Selma, and Dr. Art Cross (Dr. Lee) of Orlando, Fla.; her grandchildren, Tom Cross, III (Genie), Bradley Cross, Scott Cross (Margaret), Kennedy Cross (Dianne) all of Illinois, Alan Cross (Gen) of San Francisco, Calif., Mallory Cross (Melissa) and granddaughter, Helen Cross of Selma.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bracey Cross Jr.

Active pallbearers are Mallory Cross, Dr. Todd Cross, Rodney J. Adams, Bob Murrah, Jim Martin, Dr. Lucien Newman, Grady “Red” Leach, Bob Echols, Chuck Brown, Chuck Brown, Jr., Bob Cross, Jon Williams and Johnny Cross.

. Mrs. Cross was born in Gadsden, where she lived most of her 93 years. She was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Ralls. Mrs. Cross attended Gadsden public schools, Ward Belmont College, Brenau, and the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She married Thomas Hudson Cross on April 3, 1935.

Mrs. Cross was a devoted and active member of First United Methodist Church of Gadsden. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in civic and community affairs.

Lavada Houston Wilson

Lavada Houston Wilson, 90, of Valley Grande, formerly of Maplesville, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at a nursing home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, at Cox Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Cletice Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include son, Jim (Dee) Wilson of Vestavia Hills; daughter, Sue (Richard) Godwin of Valley Grande; grandson, Brad Wilson of Vestavia Hills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Wilson and grandson, David Godwin.

Family visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, at the church.

Mrs. Wilson was born on June 8, 1914 in Chilton County, the daughter of the late John D. Houston and the late Zadie Deason Houston. She worked as a homemaker.

Dennis Peoples

Dennis Peoples, of Georgia, formerly of Dallas County, died recently in Georgia.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Jerome Strother

Jerome Strother, 45, of Jamaica, New York, died Friday, November 12, 2004, in New York.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 20, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Living Hope Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Jannie Mae Sultzer

Jannie Mae Sultzer, 75, of Selma, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Services include one daughter, Jessie Pearl (Frederick) Sultzer Burgess; brothers, Caesar (Jettie) McMillian, Joe Lee (Mary) McMillian Sr. and W.C. McMillian; one sister, Willie Mae Cane; three grandchildren; two special friends and cousin, O’Llian Evans, Lillian Traylon and Clarie Culpepper.
