Essie L. Cargill
Essie L. Cargill was born December 3, 1915 in Sardis, Alabama to a loving mother who preceded her in death Mrs. Grace Dulaney, and father Alex Safford.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Little Rock Baptist Church, Sardis, AL.
She later moved to Grady, AL and united with the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Her recent membership was with the Rockdale Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a devoted husband, Henry Lee Cargill; three daughters: Lille Floyd of Atlanta, GA, Nettie (Benjamin) Perry , Selma, AL and Annie J. Head, Atlanta, GA; two sons, Percy (Dimmie) Wright, Selma, AL, and Aaron Wright Jr., Atlanta, GA; daughters-in-law: Delillan Wright, Tuscaloosa, AL, Phyllis Wright, Step-children: Corine (Minister Buriel) Beal, Selma, AL; Barbara (Curbie) Toles; Mary (Roscoe) Perry, Grady, AL: Betty Hall, Grady, AL, Helen (Wallace) Hull, Cleveland, OH, Oscar (Mary) Cargill, Grady, AL, Johnny Cargill, Lorain, OH, Henry L. (Barbara) Cargill, Jr. Akron, OH; one sister, Annie D. William, Selma, AL; two brothers: Rodell Dulaney, Troy, NY, Ledell Dulaney, Selma, AL; one brother-in-law, David (Laura) Cargill; and two sisters-in-law: a special sister-in-law and friend, Jessie Cargill Bibbins, Montgomery, AL; one God-daughter, Elizabeth Childers; thirty-five grandchildren; fifty-three great grandchildren; two great-grat-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Essie was preceded in death by one son, David Wright; two sisters and three brothers.
Margaret Elebash Wilson
Margaret Elebash Wilson, 87, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, at Church Street United Methodist Church with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Burial will follow in Old Live Oak Cemetery.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph P. and Christine W. Wilson of Birmingham; her nephew, Albert P. Elebash Jr. of Cocoa, Fla.; and her niece, Eugenia Elebash McCoy of Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Benjamin Franklin Wilson, her son, Benjamin Franklin Wilson, Jr. and her brother, Albert P. Elebash of Montgomery.
The family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at the church in the Calhoun Parlor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma, or the charity of your choice.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Selma, on February 5, 1917, to the late Dr. Clarence Couch and Belzora Parrish Elebash.
Lionel O. (Whitey) Strout
Lionel O. (Whitey) Strout, 83, died Saturday, November 13, 2004.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home.
Mr. Strout is survived by his sister, Eleanor Ridley of Auburn, Maine; two sister-in-laws, Lee Daughety of Meridian, Miss., and Ruby Daughety, of Montgomery; three sons, Franklin O. Strout of Arcadia, Fla., William J. Strout of San Antonio, Texas and J. Lionel Strout of Selma; six grandchildren; Christy Kreiter, Johnnie Strout, Belinda Strout, David Strout, Richard Strout and Benjamin Strout; six great grandchildren, Augustus Kreiter, Alyssa Nabors, Caylin Nabors, Nicole Strout, Mikayla Strout and Malachi Strout. Mr. Strout is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Strout was the former owner of Strout’s Boarding House.
He was retired from the United States Air Force and Merchant Marines.
Lynelle Wynn
Lynelle Wynn, 25, of Selma, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, in Selma.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.
