Selma woman arrested for arson

Firefighters responded to an apartment fire at 1201A Tremont St., the home of Gavin

Wilson.

Wilson’s apartment was allegedly set on fire by his girlfriend, Lela Mae Moore, 45-years-

old, of Selma.

Police reports show she was arrested on the scene.

According to fire department officials, the call came in at 6:28 p.m., on Sunday. The first

unit arrived on the scene at 6:33 p.m.

While the second-story wood frame apartment suffered major damage, the rest of the

building sustained only minor smoke damage.

Moore is being charged with first-degree arson.

She’s currently being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

The case is being investigated by Selma Police.

In certain situations, fire officials said, the state fire marshall would investigate the case.

Usually in

the event of a death or extensive property damage.

There were no injuries reported in this case.

Fire fighters also responded to a house fire on Lauderdale Street yesterday.

The home belonged to Robert Womack.
