Grace Holifield Nichols

Grace Holifield Nichols, 81, of Marion, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, and UAB Medical Center.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, with the Rev. James L. Waters Jr. officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Nichols of Marion; a son, Glenn Nichols (Rita) of Prattville; a daughter, Ralphine Nichols Oakes (Mason) of Clinton, Tenn.; a sister, Azell Smith of McCalla; grandchildren, Monica Oakes, Melissa Oakes, Gregory Nichols, Mark Nichols, Jeffrey Nichols; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Matthew and Kaleb.

Active pallbearers will be Gregory Nichols, Mark Nichols, Jeffrey Nichols, Bruce Nichols Jr., Leon Smith and Ellis Thomas.

Mrs. Nichols was married to the “Love of Her Life,” Ralph Nichols, for 63 years. Together they owned and operated Nichols Plumbing.

The family would like to express their thanks to all their friends, family and devoted caretakers who stood by them over the years.

Brendan O’Neal Dejarnette

Brendan O’Neal Dejarnette, 15, of Selma, died Sept. 10, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at West Trinity Baptist Church, with Maurice Harris officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Homes directing. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Melanie Dejarnette and Stephan Hall; a sister, Lashonda Dejarnette; two nephews; two nieces; uncles; aunts; a grandmother; and a grandfather.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
