The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is asking residents for their help in locating a teen-age girl who has run away from home.

Nikki Coleman, 16, disappeared from her residence 107 Highway 219 on July 8 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Sheriff’s investigator Jebb Harrison said police were notified of the disappearance on Aug. 10 and have spent the past week searching for her.

“Some of the possible locations where she might be are around GWC Homes, the 1400 to 1700 block of Alabama Avenue, or an unknown location on Doherty Street,” Harrison said “I have gone on patrols down those streets numerous times already looking for her.”

Harrison said the teen is “not unknown” to police and has been in and out of custody.

“(Coleman’s) mother has had some problems with her,” Harrison said. “She was going to be sent to a juvenile detention center, so she ran away.”

Harrison has placed Coleman’s name on a national police database as a runaway.

The teen is described as a black female about 5-feet tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has short black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Coleman’s whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Department at 874-2578.
