Rosa Lee Bargainer

Rosa Lee Bargainer, 84, of Ft. Deposit, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at Hook Street Church of Christ with Bro. James Daniel officiating. Burial followed in Cook Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Bertha M. Oates

Bertha M. Oates, 77, of Demopolis, died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at a Tuscaloosa hospital. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. James L. Dunn officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Louise Lyons

Louise Lyons, 76, of Gallion, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis.

Edna Shedd Wyatt

Edna Shedd Wyatt, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at a senior residence in Mobile.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Radney Funeral Home of Mobile directing.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews including Otis J. Shedd of Prattville, Natalie Booker Smith of Selma, Harold Shedd of Ozark, Ark., Danny Shedd of Searcy, Ark., Betty G. Wyles of Monticello, Ark, Earl Booker of Junction, Texas, Marie Pacheco of Junction Texas, Wayne Booker of Port Neches, Texas, John W. Booker of Houston, Texas, Gloria Conway of Colorado Springs, Colo., Earline Williams, Ronald Gaylor and Kenneth Gaylor all of Sand Springs, Okla.

She was preceded in death her loving husbands, Dewit Worrell and Charles Wyatt.

Mrs. Wyatt was born on June 11, 1916 in Selma.

Catherine Smith

Catherine Smith, 82, of Selma, died Wednesday August 11, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 13, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating. Burial followed in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons, Jeff (Lynn) Smith and Mike McNeal; daughter, Barbara (Carl)

Tucker; sisters, Elizabeth Williams and Betty Docker; grandchildren, Kathy (Tim) Harrison, Michael McNeal II, Andy (Angelia) McNeal, Lisa McCloud, Christy (P.J.) Baines and Rusti Smith.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by one daughter, Evon McCloud, sister, Margaret Twiley and brothers, Bob, Ralph, Herbert, W.T., Oscar and Melvin Daffron.

Active pallbearers were Gary Daffron, Rodney Daffron, Jarus Denny, Vernon Daffron,

Rickey Denny, Ferrell Denny and Greg Williams.

Richard Raymond Spangler

Richard Raymond Spangler, at age 77, passed away Thursday after a lengthy illness. Mr. Spangler was a long time resident of Selma, Alabama and the owner of Custom Home Remodeling, Inc. He also was previously employed at Sears &

Roebuck for 20 years as a sales manager. Mr. Spangler was an active member of the

Selma congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since the 1950s.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clara & Grover Spangler and his brother, Melvin Spangler. He is survived by 5 children: Denise Samayoa, Douglas, Michael, Jeanette Goldman and Sara Spangler. He is also survived by 3 granddaughters. Also surviving are his siblings Stanley, Elden, Paul & Dorothy Spangler, all of the Deshler Ohio area. Also is his sister Velma Dorman of Tucson Arizona and a host of nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday Aug 15th at 4pm at Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, Al.

William O. Terrell

William “Bill” O. Terrell, 72, died Saturday, August 14, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral plans will be announced later by Selma Funeral Home.

Carolyn Hill Corr

Carolyn Hill Corr, age 83, of Mountain Brook, died at her home on August 5. Graveside services were held at Elmwood Cemetery on August 9.

The wife of Selmian Charles Dozier Corr, she lived in Selma for several years before the couple moved to Birmingham to make their home.

Her surviving Selma connections are Nancy Corr Martin, her sister-in-law, and her nephew Mark Martin and his wife Patricia. Other Corr family members include Mr. and Mrs. Mark S. Corr and Mrs. Richard A. Puryear of Birmingham, and Atlanta residents James V. Corr and Dr. Robert H. Corr, who are brothers of her deceased husband.

Linda Etheredge Dittman

Funeral services for Linda Etheredge Dittman, 59, who died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, with her loving family by her bedside at Halifax Medical Center, was held Saturday, August 7, at the Port Orange Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Fred Wallis officiating. The minister was assisted by Chaplian Jim Smith of Halifax Medical Center. Mrs. Dittman was born in Selma to Sam and Nellie Etheredge while her father was serving in India with the Air Transport Command. She didn’t meet her dad until she was 18 months old. Two years later, she soon was joined by a brother, Sam Jr. The entire family moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1960. She graduated from Mainland High School in 196 and married her high school sweetheart, Bob Dittman, the next year. They have two children: a son, Boo, and a daughter, Tammy. The entire Etheredge family’s lives were shattered on Christmas morning, when Sam Jr., a Daytona Beach police officer, was murdered in the line of duty. IN the 24 years since then, Linda and her parents dedicated themselves to preserving his memory. Mrs. Dittman, a homemaker, was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and loving grandmother and an avid bowler. Survivors in addition to her husband and parents include her son, Boo, daughter-in-law, Jennifer, their daughter, Amber, Tammy Liles, son-in-law, Brian and their children, Jennifer, Matthew and Jonathan. Donations in her memory may be made to the Port Orange Church of the Nazerene church building fund, 840 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL 32127.
