Percy Laymond Marsh

Percy Laymond Marsh, 56, of Selma, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hollingshead Marsh of Selma; sons, Percy (Heather) Marsh II of Mobile, David Kyle Kinman of Selma and Bradford Carl (Kristy) Fondren of Alabaster; daughters, Tammy (Leith) Wilson of Selma and Carissa Ann (Bruce) Adams of Maplesville; brother, Frank (Kathy) Marsh of Selma; sister, Teresa Marsha Grant; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kristopher, Laymond, Will, Matt, Josie, Alexis, Matthew, Sierra and Matthew Middlebrooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Helen Marsh.

Active pallbearers are Bradford Fondren, Benny Hollingshead, Bruce Adams, Charlie Key, Richard Davenport and Kerry Kendricks.

Margaret L. Maul

Margaret L. Maul, 73, of Dallas County, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, August 14, at Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. James Spicer officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Charles B. Maul, Joseph R. Maul, James C. Maul and Reginald H. Maul; one daughter, Evelyn M. Maul; one sister, Mary Short; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one niece; one nephew; godchildren, Ann Jackson and Derrick Buie; a devoted friend, Eleanor Dixon.

Active pallbearers are friends of the family.

Virginia A. Kirkland

Virginia A. Kirkland, 70, of Selma, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, in St. Louis, Mo.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, at Campbell Chapel with the Rev. M. Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Jack A. Kirkland Jr.; two daughters, Adrian A. Wright and Kelly P. Kirkland; and two sisters, Lottie Armstrong and Carrie A. Simpson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. and Electa Armstrong, two brothers, Charles Armstrong and Edward Armstrong.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Richard Eldridge

Richard Eldridge, 71, of Selma, died August 9, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Montgomery, AL.

Services are at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Booker T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a devoted wife of 48 years, Bernice Eldridge; six daughters, Ora (John) Lewis, Delorise (Jessie) Wallace, Gloria Gamble, Carolyn Marshall, Freddie Craig of Selma, and Lillie Mae Campbell of North Carolina; one sister, Freddie Mae (Austin) Johnson of Selma; nineteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Taylor Lawrence and Hosea Rush both of Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Eldridge Jr. and Jerry Perkins Jr., his mother Ora Lee Crumpton King and his father Fred Eldridge. Active pallbearers are friends of the family.

Mr. Eldridge was born on November 7, 1932 to Ora and Fred Eldridge in Selma, AL. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He later joined Morning Star Baptist Church under Rev. I.C. Acoff where he remained until his health failed. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends.
