Lee Andrew Alexander
Lee Andrew Alexander, 41, of Selma, died Friday, July 30, 2004.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Polk Van Zandt officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Centreville, with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his father, George William Alexander; three brothers, William Lee Alexander, W.D. Alexander and Lumbe Jr. Alexander; five sisters, Shellie Ann Rhodes, Clorie Lee Sanders, Ethel Mae Heard, Mary Lee Alexander and Flora Lee Alexander; and three sisters-in-law.
Thelma Jean Robbins
Thelma Jean “Lady Girl” Robbins, of Chicago, Ill., died Friday, July 23, 2004.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at One Lord, One Faith Church in Chicago, Ill., with the Rev. Joseph Kelley Sr. officiating. Burial followed in Forest Home Cemetery with Lenoir Funeral Home of Chicago, Ill., directing.
Survivors include two sons, Olanda Robbins of Selma and Eugene Robbins of Chicago, Ill.; her father, Henry Robbins of Selma; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Dower of Chicago Ill, Annie Jackson of Selma and Addie (Ruben) Louis of Mobile; one brother, Rev. John (Jenny) Robbins of Chicago, Ill.; one uncle, Eugene Robbins of Chicago, Ill.; great aunt, Addie Robbins of Chicago, Ill.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Robbins
Active pallbearers were Orlanda Robbins, Eugene Robbins, Theopolis Robbins, Reginald Osborne, Melvin Dower and Steven Dower.
Ms. Robbins, was born on Feb. 8, 1938, she was the oldest of five children. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Lutheran Academy.
She moved to Chicago and worked at various factory jobs to support herself and her sons. She united with Greater Jasper Stone Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie Bonds.
Lennard McKingley Copes
Lennard McKingley Copes, 70, of Marion, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lee & Rollins Funeral Home.
Robbie Alexander Simmons Seekers
Robbie Alexander Simmons Seekers, age 95, of Selma died Sunday, August 1, 2004.
Visitation will be from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2004. Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Pineview Cemetary with Dr. Ronald Stone officiating. The funeral will be directed by Lawrence Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. Seekers was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Seekers, and parents Sadie and Joseph McKnitt Alexander.
Survivors include one brother, Colonel (Ret.) William Tipton Alexander, Montgomery, Alabama; two sisters, Ethel Alexander Mathis, Alabaster, Alabama, and Ettie Alexander Norwood, Waco, Texas; special friends, Linda and Huey Headley.
Mrs. Seekers was the fourth of 13 children. She was born in February 22, 1909, in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Selma, and she was an honorary life member of the Selma Garden Club.
