Murder trials held over

Three different murder cases went to court yesterday, each ended with the same result. All of them were carried over.

Lizzie Mae Lewis, Robert Fails and David Lee Wood all faced Judge Jack Meigs in three separate murder trials. All cases won’t go to court until November at the earliest pending forensic information and mental evaluations.

Lizzie Mae Lewis is being charged in the stabbing death of Roosevelt Jackson Jr. Lewis allegedly stabbed Jackson to death on January 19, 2004. Her trial was continued by the prosecution, pending evidence from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Robert Fails is charged with the shooting death of Eric Huntington. Huntington was shot on November 7, 2003 near the Tornado Club on Alabama Street. Huntington was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where he died while

in emergency surgery.

David Woods faces charges of shooting his aunt, Willie Mae Woods on June 27, 2003 with a .12 gauge shotgun. Woods also faces related charges of attempting to escape in the first degree and assaulting a police officer in the second degree. Woods’ trial was carried over pending a mental evaluation.

The next jury trial date in the Circuit Court calendar is November 29.
