Zack Crittenden, Jr., 77, of Goshen, AL died at his home on Tuesday, July 6, 2004.

Services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Kirby officiating and Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Shady Grove Community.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will be one hour lie-in-state prior to the service at the church.

Survivors include wife, Ethel Mae Crittenden of Shady Grove; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Grace and Howard Guilford of Shady Grove; Marguerite and Pace Head of Troy; aunt, Ann McDaniel; nieces and nephews, Wayne Bozeman, Jane Crittenden, William Head, Patricia Head; several great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Marguerite Crittenden; brother, Roy Crittenden; sister, Myrtus Bozeman.

Pallbearers will be Mike Reynolds, Bobby Buchanan, George Yocum, Butch Osley, Billy Young and Larry Trotter.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund.

Henry Odis Watters

Henry Odis Watters, 83, of Selma, died on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held in New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Sonny Edwards and Rev. Larry Stover officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mr. Watters was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Gillis Watters; son, Richard Lynn Piper.

Survivors include children, Shirley Baggett, Clarence “Toota” (Harriet) Piper, Raymond “Bubba” Piper all of Selma, Henry “Tubby” (Ruby) Piper of Wilmer; daughter-in-law, Jackie Piper of Florida; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Louis E. Watters of Selma; sisters, Dera M. Fitts, Rubye Nell Durden of Selma, Mary E. Godwin of Biloxi, MS; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to one’s favorite charity.

He was much beloved by his family and friends.

Estella Evans Cook

Estella Evans Cook, died on Friday, July 2, 2004 in Brooklyn, NY.

Services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Brownville Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cook, parents, Eugene and Laura Mae Evans; sisters, Iola Evans Smiley, Lula Mae Frison and Martha Evans Scott.

Survivors include three sons; three daughters; two brothers, Robert (Annest) Evans of Kissemee, FL, James Evans Islep of Rhode Island; two sisters, Laura Mae Irby, Elizabeth Carter Evans both of Brooklyn, NY; nephew, William (Patricia) Smiley; cousin, Roberta Burns; a devoted family friend, Mrs. Arether Darrington all of Selma.
