Marty Eugene Helton

Marty Eugene Helton of Selma, 48, died on Sunday, June 13 at a local nursing home.

Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 16 in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Ryan officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Burial will follow in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Lawrence Funeral Home Tuesday, June 15 from 6-8 p.m.

Survivors include mother and stepfather Lee and Joe Bills of Selma; sister and brother-in-law Suellen and Helton Hall and Bill Hall of Trussville; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Bills and Margaret Bills of Selma; nephews, Benjamin Johnson, Evan Johnson, both of Trussville; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Waltz of Selma, Captain and Mrs. TL Green of Selma, Mrs. Alvin C. Kilmury of Sumter, SC, Mr. and Mrs. Juluis J. Green of Saraland, Joel A. Pace of Clio, MI; hosts of first cousins and numerous other extended family members; family friend, Mrs. Trudy Smith of Southside.

Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his father, Harvey E. Helton and beloved maternal grandparents Thomas and Vera Green, formally of Mobile and Billingsley.

Active pallbearers will be Benjamin Johnson, Evan Johnson, Bill Hall, Lyle Waltz, Eric Hahn and Glen Pale.

Honorary pallbearers will be Selma Police Department and Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Cahaba Hospice or the building fund of Barrett Road United Methodist Church.

William Crane

William Crane of Selma died on Monday, June 14 at home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Eugene Edward Breiphol

Eugene Edward Breipohl, 88, of Ottawa,

Illinois died Friday, June 11, 2004.

He was born September 5, 1915 in Higginsville, Missouri. He married Margaret Hughes on September 29, 1937 in Brookfield, Missouri. He retired from the J.C. Penney Company in 1975 and was in the men’s clothing business until his second retirement at the age of 80.

He is survived by a daughter, Marsha Blunk of Pekin, Illinois; two sons, Michael (Ruth) of Selma and Walter of Ottawa, Illinois;

five grandchildren, Jon (Melissa) Blunk of New York City, Thomas Blunk of Kansas City, Missouri, Ellen Breipohl (David) Thorp and Susan Breipohl, University Park, Maryland, and Sarah Breipohl (Chase) Wofford of Irving, Texas; and two great-grandsons, Jack Blunk of New York City and John Michael Wofford of Irving, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Margaret on September 21, 2003 and a son, Alfred, in infancy.
