Services will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Ebell Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Summons officiating and Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Centreville, AL.

Mae D. Moore of Marion Jct., 92, died on Wednesday, June 9.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12 at Marion Junction Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Byron and Rev. Thomas Rimmer officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Marion Jct. Cemetery.

Survivors include daughter, Sara M. (Percy) Ealum of Marion Jct; grandson, Allen R. Lindsey, III of Auburn, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Pete Carter, Tolbert Henry, Bob Moore, Tom Moore, Percy R. Ealum, Terry Tanner, Christopher Tanner and Chapman Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be A.F. Caley Jr., Arthur Carlton, Rev. James Farrow, Clarence King, Dick Rogers, Miles Prestel, Harold Grimes and James A. McDaniel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Marion Junction Methodist Church.

The family will receive visitors at Marion Junction Methodist Church from 10 -11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 12.

Clara Lucretia Howze

Clara Lucretia Howze of Marion, AL, 76, died on June 3.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 3 p.m. at Greenleaf Baptist Church with Rev. Clifford Coleman officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial in church cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Eddie Lee (Mary) White, Marvin Howze, Earl Lee Howze and Tony Howze; daughters, Jessie (Floyd) Kenny, Vera Lee Howze, Arlene Frances Howze, Sherry Diane (Odean) Garner, Gladys (Rev. Davis) and Earnestine Martin; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; other relatives, Katie Lue Hurt, Barbara Jean Howze, Margaret Allen, Herbert (Ovetta) White and Corrine White.

Lawrence Crawford

Lawrence Crawford of Selma, 78, died Monday, June 7.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at New Sister Springs Church.

Survivors include son, Hildred Smiley; three daughters, Gloria Gaines, Rosa M. Tripp, Eva J. Crawford; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two son-in-laws; one daughter-in-law; other relatives, special “son” George Webb and special “sister” Josephine Lewis.

Pallbearers will be friends of family.

Deacon James O. Brayboy

Deacon James O. Brayboy of Selma, 73, died Tuesday, June 8.

Services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 12 noon at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. B. T. Booker officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include son, James O. Brayboy Jr.; step-daughter, Patricia P. Watson; brother, Earl Brayboy; sister, Waymer Martin; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law; six sister-in-law; several other relatives.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until time of the service at 12 noon on Saturday, June 12.

Elton Eugene Collins

Elton Eugene Collins of Jones, AL, 78, died Thursday, June 10 at home.

Services will be held Sunday, June 13 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Strickland officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Grace Jean Williams Collins; sons, James Eugene Skinner, William Allen Skinner, Tommy Coats; daughters, Sally Sieve, Sheila Carrington, Lynn Smith, Gwen Jatko, Darline Dean; brother, James Lynn Collins; twenty-three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Collins is preceded in death by his son, Jack Elton Collins and daughter, Donna Frances Jones.

Active pallbearers will be David Allen Ward, Al Jatko, Adam Blackmon, Ralph Roberts, David Clark and Brent Ross.

Visitation will be at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 12.

Mary Geraldine Hood Cooper

Mary Geraldine Hood Cooper of Selma, 98, died Wednesday, June 9 at home.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 11 at 11 a.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. James Waters officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include son, David Cooper of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Barbara C. (Stuart) Harris of Selma; grandchildren, Lee (Gordon) Crocker of Oxford, AL, Bill (Lelia Green) Harris of Hoover, AL, Cathy Harris of Selma, Jenny (Bernard) Lorino of Hoover, AL, Deanna Cooper of Old Hickory, TN and Meredith Cooper of New York City, NY; seven great-grandchildren; devoted friend and caregiver Laura “Penny” Bythe.

Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years A. King Cooper.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church of Dayton, AL with Rev. Elister Charleston and Rev. Kenneth Raby officiating and Larkin & Scott Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Cade Cemetery in Hugo, AL. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11 from 6-7 p.m. at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Friendship Baptist Church on Saturday, June 12 beginning at 12 noon.

Ethel Smith of Coatopa, AL, 85, died on Saturday, June 5 at a hospital.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 12 noon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Coatopa, AL with Larkin & Scott Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, June 12 beginning at 11 a.m.

Leon Carpenter of Union, AL, 67, died on Saturday, June 5 at a nursing home.

Virginia D. Smith of Selma, 78, died on Monday, June 7.

Services will be held Saturday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist of Sardis, AL with Stevenson E. Tullis officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

Survivors include son, Clarence Smith, Jr.; three brothers, Fred Drain, David Drain and Elder Johnny Bonner; six sisters, Ella Bonner, Velma Shannon, Mary Bonner, Virgel Stallworth, Bernice Jones and Adorries Swain; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three brother-in-laws; two sister-in-laws; host of nephews and nieces.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis, AL and a retired Insurance Agent.

Sarah Barton Malekont of Selma, died on Wednesday, June 9 at a local nursing home.
