Betty Louise Andrews Arrington

Betty Louise Andrews Arrington, 75, of Orrville, died Saturday, June 5.

Services will be held Monday, June 7, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Rimmer officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Arrington; daughters, Matteson Barcklay, of Cali.; Olivia Miller, Tenn.; Susan Fiduccia, Ga.; six grandchildren, Mac Higginbotham, Birmingham; Ashley Higginbotham, Maplesville; Erin Johnon, Nev.; Libba Miller, Andy Miller and Bill Miller, all of Memphis, Tenn.; and brothers, Leon Hayes Andrews, Camden; Robert Parker Andrews, Weatherford, Texas; Henri Andrews, and Goldsboro, N.C.

Mrs. Arrington was born in Camden in 1929. She was the wife of William “Bill” for 55 years. Mrs. Arrington earned her bachelors and Masters degree in elementary education from Auburn University, where she met Bill. She taught in Dallas County and Selma ity Schools before becoming the first teacher hired at John T. Morgan Academy. While at Morgan, she taught fourth grade for 19 years. Mrs. Arrington loved teaching and one of her many fourth graders became her doctor. She told him, “Well, I had you at my mercy and now you have me at yours.” On the streets of Selma she was often greeted with “Hi Mrs. Arrington, you taught me in the fourth grade.”

Active pallbearers include Bill Kendricks, Herman Majors, Sam Neely, Howard Burrill, Jimmy Wampler and H.C. Atchison.

The family will received friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Eunice Dale Bickerstaff

Eunice Dale Bickerstaff, 81, of Lawley died Saturday, June 5, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove No. 2 Church officiated by the Rev. Bo DeLoach Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove No. 2 Cemetery.

Mr. Bickerstaff was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Bickerstaff, son Delton Bickerstaff and daughter Martha McLendon.

He is survived

by son, Delton Bickerstaff; daughters Judy Boughner of Altoona, Jean Mapes of Huntsville, Linda Burton of Selma, Sally McMillan of Brent, Kathleen Cobb of Hayneville, Juanita Courtney of Lawley and Janet Sims of Lawley; brother Otha Bickerstaff of Altoona; granddaughter Stephanie Johnson of Lawley; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Sims, Cecil Courtney, Bo Simmons, Tony Simmons, Brad Burton and Perry McMillan.

Doss L. Lovelady

Doss L. “Sonny” Lovelady, 73, of Maplesville, died June 5, at his home.

Services will be held Monday, June 7, at 11 a.m. at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Maplesville, officiated by the Revs. Ty Parten and Jason Vinson, directed by Martin Funeral Home.

He is survived by daughters, Karen Jones, Plantersville; Joyce Shanks, Maplesville; sisters, Billie Woods, Selma; Louise Fergueson, Maplesville; Betty Deason, Selma; four grandsons; and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Lovelady was born in Bibb County on June 5, 1931. He was employed as a Millwright until he retired.
