Timothy Tyrone Stewart
Timothy Tyrone Stewart, 33, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Birmingham hospital.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Ellwood Community Church in Selma with Pastor Gary Crum, Sr. officiating and Miller’s Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his loving parents, Mr. Marvin Hobson and Mrs. Joy Hobson; brothers Gernerique Stewart of Jackson, Miss., Maurice Hobson of Tuskegee and Marvin Hobson of Huntsville; two sisters Christi Melton (Darrio) of Atlanta, Ga., and Victoria Hobson of Birmingham; grandmother Mrs. Eva Forbes of Jackson, Miss.; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, May 14, at Miller Funeral Home.
Mr. Stewart was a 1989 graduate of Selma High School. He graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. degree in English in 1994.
At the time of his death he was employed by UAB and pursuing a Master’s degree in Education at Alabama State University.
Robert John Williams
Robert John “Bob” Williams, 96, of Serena, Ill., formerly of Villa Park, Ill., and Prairie, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at his home.
Services are at 12 noon Friday, May 14, at the Chapel of Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home in Camden. Burial will follow in the Catherine Cemetery with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing. Illinois arrangements were by Mueller Funeral Home of Ottawa.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Reginald (Carolyn) of Serena and Bruce (Mary) of Downers Grove, Ill.; a daughter, Barbara Downer of Batavia: 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Calhoun, Wilburn (Frankie) and Roscoe (Adele), and two sisters, Nell Mullin and Leone Baldwin, and a daughter, Joan Dugan.
Family visitation will be from 11 until funeral hour.
Illinois arrangements were handled by Mueller Funeral Home of Ottawa.
Mr. Williams was born January 13, 1908 in Campbell, to Reginald and Addie (Waite) Williams. He married Sallie Aningron, who died May 30, 1995.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Villa Park Masonic Lodge and the First Congregational Church of VilIa Park. He was a graduate of Coyne Electrical School and held an honorary electrical engineering degree. He worked for Commonwealth Edison in Illinois. His last position was as supervisor of Substations, with jurisdiction covering the area of O’Hare Airport in Chicago.
Veronica Peoples
Veronica Peoples, 38, of Selma, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at her home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. B. T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Shelton Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include mother, Carol Peoples of Detroit, Mich.; one son, Walter Britton Jr. of Selma; devoted lifelong friend, Sheila (Tellie) Simpson of Selma; special uncle, Claude Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Active pallbearers are Deacons and members of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Ms. Peoples was a lifelong member of Morning Start Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Selma High School Class of 1985.

Geraldine Howard
Geraldine Howard, 67, of Jones, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at a local nursing home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Figtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Herman (Deborah) Howard and Marvin (Lady Catherine) Howard; one daughter, Yvonne (William) Steele; two brothers, Tommy and Lazarus Howard; five sisters, Altha (Adolf) Holmes, Idella Howard, Dr. Lillian Broadnax, Zeda Howard and Julia Newton; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews.
Active pallbearers are nephews.
Lorenzo Braxter
Lorenzo Braxter, 75, of Selma, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at a local hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.
Derry Brown
Derry Brown, 87, of Dallas County, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at New Sister Spring Baptist Church with Elder Christopher officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Family Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Willie “Sonny” Brown and Johnny “Ted” (Mattie) Brown of Detroit, Mich.; four brothers, Lloyd Brown and Percy Brown of Selma, Otto (Brazell) Brown, Willie (Lillie) Brown of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Turner of Chicago, Ill., and Rose (Robert) Owens of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives; special friend, Adele Wills.
The body will lie in state at the church from noon-until funeral hour.

Clint Jackson
Clint Jackson, 92, of Dallas County, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at a local nursing home.
Survivors are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Rising Star P.B. Church with the Rev. Eugene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Ovetta Jackson; four sons, Henry (Inez) Jackson, Charlie Jackson, Clarence Lewis and William (Dorothy) Moppins; one sister, Adabell Brown of Mobile; 25 grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by two sons, Clint Jackson Jr. and James Moppin.
Active pallbearers are sons and grandsons.
