Rebecca Wright Clark Simpson

Rebecca “Beck” Wright Clark Simpson, 53, of Dallas County, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at First Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. C. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Simpson; sons, Robin Clark, Micheal Clark of Detroit, Mich., and godson, Eric Craig of Selma; three brothers, Clemon Wright, David Wright Jr. and Lee Grant Brown of Selma; seven sisters, Mary L. Wright of Selma, Julia Drain, Betty Wright of Orrville, Rose Grave of Selma, Sherry Brown, Mary (Eddie) Morgan of Uniontown and Janice Franklin of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 20 nephews; and 12 nieces.

Mrs. Simpson, served as a crossing guard, a member of O.E.S. of Salem Pride 509 and the Rescue Squad.

Annie Lou Doss

Annie Lou Doss, 51, of Selma, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Pastor George H. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include former husband, Samuel Doss II; parents, George Daniels and Lillie Daniels; two sons, Samuel Doss III and Joseph Doss; one daughter, Diane Doss; five brothers, Willie J. Cook, Jesse Cook, George Daniels Jr., William H. Daniels and Chester Deraco; seven sisters, Hazel Bampoe, Lenora N. Daniels, Christine Daniels, Katherine A. Daniels, Joyce D. Salim, Vellica Daniels and Annie Pearl Mitchell.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Louise Henderson Henry

Louise Henderson Henry, 85, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Mrs. Henry’s nephew, Dr. Jerry Henry officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sons, Pelham Hugh Henry Jr. (Beth) and Steven Warren Henry (Leslie); daughters, Anita Louise Henry Sims (Charlie) and Charlotte Ann Henry Hill; six grandsons, Charles Hartwell Sims IV, Christian Steven Hall, Steven Warren Henry Jr., Pelham Hugh Henry III, Sims Henderson Henry and Trammell Nolen Henry; two granddaughters, Cynthia Dawn Sims Bridges and Mary Shannon Sims Cooper; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Henderson; and sister, Geraldine Henderson Daniels.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pelham Hugh Henry Sr., a sister, Loyce Henderson Allen, daughter-in-law, Susan Sims Henry, and great-grandson, Clayton Bain Cooper.

Active pallbearers are grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to UAB Hospital Pediatric Cardiology, NHB 320, 619 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35249-6852 in memory of Mrs. Henry’s great-grandson, Clayton Bain Cooper.

Mrs. Henry was born on Oct. 24, 1918 in Heflin, the daughter of Luther Vinson Henderson and Mary Jane Bain Henderson. She graduated from Orrville High School as salutatorian of her class and from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Birmingham. He served in the obstetrics unit at Vaughan Memorial Hospital for over 40 years and assisted in the delivery of numerous babies and the care of their mothers in the Selma/Dallas County area.

Breanna Moniquo Johnson

Breanna Moniquo Johnson, 2 months, of Selma, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. McDole officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her parents, Daniel Johnson and Leolia Suttles; six brothers Marvin McMillian, Charles Martin (Jessie), Issac Martin (Angela), Marcus Parks, Joderious Suttles and Jamarius Johnson; six sisters, Dinah McMillian, Christine Horner (Freddie) Irene Parks, Disheka Suttles, Lanosha Suttles and Ashanti Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Mary Lucile Riley

Mary Lucile Riley, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Chapel of White Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with White Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Survivors included one sister, Billie Riley (Clifton) Capell of Montgomery; two nieces, Mary Anne Capell (Ron) Wilson of Clearwater, Fla., and Nancy Capell (Jerry) Logan of Trussville; and two nephews, Charles Capell of Peachtree City, Ga.. and Hardy C. Hudson Jr. of Phoenix City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Frances Riley Hudson of Selma.

Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Miss Riley was born in Quitman, Ga., on December 17, 1918, to James Andrew and Lucile Rushton Riley of Selma. She retired for the Social Security Administration in Selma. She has been a resident of Montgomery for the past 12 years.

Annie Tartt Davis

Annie Tartt Davis, 89, of Forkland, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Christian Valley Baptist Church in Boligee, with the Rev. Emmett Summerville and the Rev. William M. Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Creek Cemetery in Epes, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Joe Davis Jr.

Joe Davis Jr., 65, of Demopolis, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Christian Chapel Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. Fred Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.

Samuel E. Hines Jr.

Samuel E. Hines Jr., 59, of Forkland, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at his home.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Christian Valley Church, Boligee, with the Rev. Emmett Summerville and the Rev. William M. Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Knott Cemetery in Boligee, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Mary Bell Taylor

Mary Bell Taylor, 58, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Coatopa, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, in Long Beach, Calif.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Buck’s Chapel AME Zion Church in Coatopa. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Beatrice McLaughlin

Beatrice McLaughlin, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at a Marion nursing home.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Mt. Nebo AME Zion Church in Marion, with the Rev. Jerry James officiating and Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing..

Survivors include four sons, Walter L. McLaughlin (Mattie) of Alexandria, Va., Willie C. McLaughlin (Johnnie Lois) deceased, Eugene McLaughlin of Perry County Nursing Home in Marion and James W. McLaughlin (Delsie) of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Annie Merl Smith of Mobile; and grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great- great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. McLaughlin was born on March 3, 1913 to the late James and Azalee Woods in Marion. She became a member Mt. Nebo AME Church at a young age. She later married the late Vaughan McLaughlin.

She has been a resident of Southland nursing home for the last four years.

Margaret Watts

Margaret Watts, 78, of Marion, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at a hospital in Eutaw.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, with the Rev. B.L. Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Marion, with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.
