Gresham earns trip with essay

Morgan Academy junior Tyler Gresham has won a trip to attend the Congressional Seminar on June 19-25, by writing the winning essay for the statewide contest sponsored by the Colonial Dames of America.

The assigned topic was to write an essay on &uot;What Role Should the United States Play in Keeping Peace in Other Parts of the World?&uot;

The son of Doug and Janet Gresham began the journey to Washington by winning the Dallas County competition among all public and private schools.

Gresham is a student of Morgan teacher Mrs. Diane McWilliams who teaches honors English at Morgan. &uot;While I am extremely proud of Tyler’s success,&uot; she said, &uot;I am not surprised that his essay for the Colonial Dames would be noticed. Tyler is knowledgeable, and he works diligently to improve his writing skills. Because of his scholarship, Tyler’s future looks bright.&uot;

While attending the June Washington seminar, Gresham will be attending frequent group meetings with congressional members and their aides, according to a Morgan spokesperson. Ample time will be provided for student questions as well as committee meetings and congressional sessions.

The Colonial Dames sponsor the essay contest each year with timely themes.
