U.S. Rep. Artur Davis will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at City Hall in council chambers.

Davis will speak on several issues at the meeting as well as open the floor for questions. &uot;The breadth of the meeting is usually about what people want to talk about,&uot; said Corey Ealons, Davis’ deputy chief of staff. &uot;He very much looks forward to these occasions.&uot;

According to Ealons, Davis will most likely discuss Iraq, the Sept. 11 commission as well as local issues, including Medicaid and working to protect area jobs. &uot;Usually, it’s driven by the hot topics,&uot; Ealons said.

Ealons said Davis’ town hall meetings are used to give the community updates on issues in Washington D.C. that could impact the area. Davis also uses the meetings to answer constituents’ questions. &uot;It’s a forum that’s been very successful for him,&uot; Ealons said.

Last year Davis held 13 town hall meetings, including one in Selma. This will be Davis’ second town hall meeting in Selma.
