Penny Lou Davis Clearman

Penny Lou Davis Clearman, 55, of Selma, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at her home.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Monday, March 29, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Delton Bickerstaff Jr. and daughter-in-law, Missy Bickerstaff; her mother, Gloria Browning; her sister, Kandy Browning and brother-in-law, John Tirb; grandchildren, Carreena Merritt, Grayson Merritt and Savannah Grace Bickerstaff; nephews, Bo Perry and Kip Perry; nieces, Andrea Davis and Nikki Davis.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clearman, was preceded in death by her father, Richard Browning and a brother, Dale Davis.

Robert Hester Sr.

Robert Hester Sr., 81, of Boligee, died Friday, March 19, 2004, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at New Friendship Baptist Church, Boligere, with the Rev. Steve Zinnerman officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Joseph O’Flinn

Joseph Daniel O’Flinn of Tulsa, Oklahoma died March 19, 2004. Born in Selma on July 17, 1925, he was the son of Lucy and Tim O’Flinn, who owned and operated Tim’s Cafe on Broad Street for many years. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, in Tulsa under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home with Father Michael Rooney officiating.

A mass was said in his name at Queen of Peace Church, Selma.

O’Flinn was educated in the Selma School System and graduated from the College of Electrical Engineering at Auburn University. During World War II he served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; a son Dan O’Flinn and his wife Dawn, and three grandchildren: Mandie, Hilary and Brandon; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Tim O’Flinn of Selma and nieces Mrs. Henry Pitts, Selma, Kathryn O’Flinn Driskell, Destin, Florida, and Sandra O’Flinn Morotta, Leesburg, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph O’Flinn and Tim O’Flinn.

LaTanny Hamilton Benison

LaTanny Hamilton Benison, 41, of Eutaw, died March 18, 2004, at her home.

Services were held Thursday, March 25, at the New Greene Oak Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. Edward King officiated. Burial follwed in Hatter Field Cemetery in Boligee.

Larkin and Scott Funeral homes of Demopolis handled the arrangements.

Survivors include husband, Trooper Jonathan M. Benison, Eutaw; mother, Sarah Hamilton, Eutaw; four children, Sameka (Alan) Holland, Minldenhoff, England; Aqvon Benison; Akira Benison and Schnarre Benison, all of Eutaw; a stepson, Thaddeus Jones, Birmingham; two grandchildren; a step-grandson; five sisters, Shirley

(the Rev. Jonathan) Byrd, York; Vera (Ron) Edwards, Newark, N.J.; Vonda (Larry) Richardson, Boligee; Gina (the Rev. Don) Walker, Fayette; Tamera (Verdanell) Lewis, Eutaw; two brothers Sebastian Ward, Tuscaloosa; Orande Hamilton, Eutaw; six aunts, three uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
