Ruth Miriam Warren
Ruth Miriam Warren, 70, of Maryville, Tenn.; died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at NHC Fort Sanders in Knoxville, Tenn.
Services will be held 8 p.m. Monday, March 22, at Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Taylor of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Maryville, Tenn. and the Rev. Dr. Bruce Yates of Seymour First Baptist Church, Seymour, Tenn., will officiate . Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at Orrville Cemetery, in Orrville, in the Warren Family Plot. The Rev. James Waters of Marion will officiate. Alabama arrangements are entrusted to Lawrence-Brown Funeral home.
Survivors include her sister, Martha Eleanor Warren Moffett Green, Seymour, Tenn.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, George B. and Florence M. Warren, Sr., Marion; Charles Albert and Martha B. Warren, Selma; Paul Judson and Betty S. Warren, Mobile; Clarice Howard Warren Morgan and husband George Morgan of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Warren, a native of Orrville, was a resident at Fairpark Healthcare Center in Maryville, Tenn. since 1985 and a member of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Maryville, Tenn. She attended Livingston State College in Livingston and was a graduate of the University of Souther Mississippi in Hattisburg, Miss. She taught girls P.E. and biology at Mainland Senior High School in Daytona Beach, Fla. for 17 years before retiring due to a stroke in 1973. Ms. Warren also coached the girl’s swimming team at Mainland. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lelia Mae Goines Warren, father, the Rev. Edward B. Warren; sister, Margaret Ellen Warren, Orrville; brother, Edward B. Warren Jr., Charlotte N.C.; brothers-in-law, W.J. &8220;Dub&8221; Moffett, Maryville, Tenn.; and Jack F. Green of Seymour, Tenn.
The family thanks Ruth’s Fairpark Healthcare Center family, for loving and caring for her and for the love, support and encouragement extended to her from her sister and legal guardian for 19 years, Martha. The family wants to thank everyone for their prayers, love and acts of kindness. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, Tenn.
Margie Dees Crocker
Margie Dees Crocker, 78, of Selma, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her husband, L.C. Crocker, Selma; daughter, Donna C. Tippett, Millbrook; son-in-law, Bill Tippett, Lowndesboro; son, Len (Donna) Crocker, Selma, sister, Frannie D. Bridges, Selma; her special canine friend Angel; and two grandchildren.
Active pallbearers include Bobby Bridges, Wayne Dee, Tommy King, Jason King, Bill Tippett and Melvin Lester.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Bridges, Harry Bridges, Walter Bridges and Jimmy Bridges.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Fairview Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday.
