Bettie Joe Carter Gaddy

Bettie Joe Carter Gaddy, 83, of Selma, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Finch officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Walter K. Gaddy of Selma; daughters, Jerry Watson of Gulf Breeze and Frances Herring of Auburndale, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Thresa Davis of Stanton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Charles K. Gaddy and James Wesley Gaddy.

Active pallbearers are Brooks Carter, roger Nichols, Richard Barrett, Les Herring, Devan Simpson and Mike Gordon

Mrs. Gaddy was a charter member of Elkdale Baptist Church.

Katherine Corey

Katherine &8220;Kelly&8221; Corey, 38, of Selma, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at Old Live Oak Cemetery with Minister Tom McLemore and Minister John Mount officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, David B. Corey; mother, Kay Stoddard (Bernard R.) Redd; father, Bardon &8220;Buddy&8221; C. (Linda) Burrow; son, William Stoddard Corey; daughter, Sarah Katherine Corey; brothers, Shawn Burrow, Josh Burrow and Adam Burrow; sister, Kim Burrow (Ray) Smitherman; grandmother, Katherine Appel Stoddard and Mary Ellen Burrow; aunts, Sandra S. Barfield and Gail S. DiIenno of Wayne, Pa.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

As an alternative to flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Cahaba Hospice, The American Cancer Society and one’s favorite charity.

Tressa Elaine Veazey Yawn

Tressa Elaine Veazey Yawn, 92, of Selma, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Rod Rochester officiating. Burial will follow in Isabella Methodist Church Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her daughters, Averline (Eldred) Campbell and Frances Wiggins; sons James Clifton (Virginia) Yawn, Richard H. (Dean) Yawn and William Ehlert (Evelyn) Yawn; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy V. Carpenter.

Mrs. Yawn was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Absee Yawn and a son, Charles E. Yawn.

Active pallbearers are Michael Wiggins, Tommy Wiggins, Michael Cowan, Chris Headley, Ryan Duke and Rickey Lawrence.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
