Police, FBI investigate bank heist

The Selma Police Department is working with a Federal Bureau of Investigation to find the man responsible for the Wednesday evening bank robbery.

Selma Police Chief Robert Green said a black male subject-described as approximately 5’6&uot; tall, weighing 160 pounds, between 30 to 40 years of age and wearing glasses &045;entered the Southtrust Bank on Broad Street and demanded money from a teller.

According to Green, the suspect handed the bank teller a note that stated &uot;Give me some money and no one gets hurt.&uot;

After being given an undetermined amount of cash, Green said, the suspect left the building and fled in a unknown direction.

Since the bank handles federally insured funds, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified and is working on the case.

Selma detectives are also in the process of investigating leads with the FBI in this case.
