Pisgah girls oust RC Hatch

BIRMINGHAM&045;The RC Hatch Lady Bobcats winning streak halts at 18 games as they fall to the Pisgah Lady Eagles 66-59 in the state 2A girls semi-final game, Tuesday in Birmingham.
“I’m disappointed that we lost,&uot; said Lady Bobcat coach Walter Abraham, “but our girls played well. We just couldn’t handle them in the blocks.”
Pisgah presented a big-body presence under the basket and kept pounding the ball inside.
The game was tied at the end of the first quarter at 17.
Pisgah lead at the half 37-34. The Lady Bobcats tied the game to begin the third quarter on a 3-pointer by junior Sierra Miller.
The Lady Eagles then ran up seven straight points to go up 44-37 with 3:34 to go in the quarter.
RC Hatch played from a deficit the rest of the game. They were down as much as 11 points in the fourth and could only get as close as five in the final quarter.
The Lady Bobcats also had to commit a numerous amount of fouls while playing from behind in the second half.
Pisgah went to the foul line 25 times in the second half and sank 17 of their attempts.
Sophomore Latoria Paige led the Lady Bobcats with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Venicia Dudley added 12, with Miller contributing nine points.
Sophomore Ahjah Mitchell pulled down nine boards and scored eight points.
For Pisgah, Breck Reed had a game high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Pisgah will advance to championship play later this week.
