It has been an exciting week for Linda and Keithin Pettway as they celebrated the opening of their new beauty and barber shop in the Selma Plaza.
The couple held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for friends, relatives and employees at the new shop on Friday, which is located directly next to the Dollar Tree.
Platinum Stylz and Supplies, said Linda, is a salon that offers hair care service to both men and women.
The shop has two licensed cosmetologists, a barber, Mary Kay representative, and two store clerks.
The Pettways also sell a wide array of name brand hair care products, including Mizani, Affirm and Dudley Designer Touch.
Linda and her husband say they are glad to finally be open for business and are looking forward to working with their customers.
One feature that the Pettways hope will make their beauty and barber shop stand out from the rest is their hours of operation.
The shop is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The shop also welcomes walk-in customers who decide they need a trim.
With its location near Wal-Mart and other shopping centers, Linda said she hopes her business will get plenty of exposure and a strong customer base.
Just before the ribbon-cutting, the couple had their new shop blessed by the Rev. Dr. J.C. Summers of the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Family and friends then stood outside to witness the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and show their support for the Pettways.
The store officially opened this Saturday and the Pettways say they are looking forward to their first year as new business owners.
