Betty Jean Anderson Moore

Betty Jean Anderson Moore, 63, of Selma, died Sunday, February 15, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services were held at 12 noon Saturday, February 21, at Ellwood Community Church with the Rev. Crum officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Frederick (Wendy) Anderson; one daughters, Loretta (Clyde) Rembert; brother, James Harris; sister, Brenda Harris and Carolyn Robinson; four grandchildren; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three nephews; five nieces; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Harris, brother, Herbert Lowery, sister, Mary Effinger.

Active pallbearers are friends.

Honorary pallbearers Donta Harris and Tyrone Harris.

Ms. Moore was on the Usher Board at Ellwood Community Church.

Samuel C. Towns

Samuel C. Towns, 80, of Pleasant Hill, died Monday February 16, 2004, at a healthcare facility.

Services were at 12 noon Saturday, February 21, at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. J.L. Ward officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, George Ishman

(Bertha) of Sardis; two daughters, Elaine Towns Alexander (Thomas) of Columbus, Ga., and Ethel Towns Johnson (Jimmy) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Frances Phillips and Delores Wiley of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Sammy B. Towns (Eunice)) of Sardis and Joseph L. Towns of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Towns of Sardis, Fannie Towns of Atlanta, Ga., and Ovetta Williams of Selma; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Maude) Cowan and Milton Cowan; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Carrie Towns.

Anna Lee Johnston

Anna Lee Johnston, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.

Mrs. Johnston requested that no services be held.

Survivors include her Loving husband of 48 years, Frank B. Johnston; sons, William and John; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After growing up in Selma, Anna Lee married Frank and lived in Kansas City, Mo., and Miami, Fla. They retired to live in Merritt Island, Fla., for 28 years. Anna Lee will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and caring wife, mother, and friend. She was generous with her love and known for her fairness and loyalty, she will never be replaced in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Virginia Watson Wiggins

Virginia Watson Wiggins, 87, of Frisco City, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at a healthcare facility.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Bermuda Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark McCullough and the Rev. Clayton Barnes officiating. Burial followed in the Bermuda Community Cemetery with Monroe Chapel Funeral Home directing..

Survivors include sons, Lawrence (Willardene) Watson of Wilmer, Earl (Louise) Watson of Jackson and H.L. (Anita) Watson of Evergreen; stepson, Dwight Wiggins Jr. of Baking Ridge, N..J.; daughters, Clara (Laten) Griggers of Monroevikke, Goria (Nich) Dixon of Silver Hill; step-daughters, Joyce Powell of Spanish Ft., and Kitty Broadhead of Frisco City; sister, Lenistine Tucker of Monroeville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita Moore

Juanita Moore, 53, of Selma, died February 18, 2004 at Warren Manor.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 at 1 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Ralph Terry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

James Ella Bartholomew

James Ella Bartholomew of Minneapolis, Minn. died February 19, 2004, in Minneapolis. Arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Home.

Robert Davis

The Rev. Robert Davis, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Boligee, died February 13, 2004, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. William M. Branch will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
