With a Saturday night win over Warrior, Marion Military took the boy’s area title with a 41-31 win at home.

Warrior, who ousted Central Christian Friday night by two, couldn’t solve the MMI (20-3) defense.

“We put in a new defense this week and worked on it and the last two days we looked pretty good,&uot; coach Michelle Ivey said. &uot;Defense and rebounding led us to the win.&uot;

Javoris Smith had an outstanding game with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Adric Reed added 12 points and new-comer Andrew Murphy had seven.

With the win, MMI advances to the Final 8 and will play next Friday at Huntingdon at 1:30 p.m.
