Lady Panthers down Central Hayneville, 54-50

Coach Matthews Williams’ Southside Lady Panthers used a deep and balanced attack to down Central Hayneville Saturday night at home, 54-50.
Kendra Marzette led the Lady Panthers with 12 points.
Tiffany Anderson and Makiesha Towns were also in double figures with 10 each.
Andreaka Williams added 8 points to the cause while Shernita Thigpen had 6.
Kimberly Broadnax added 4 points, Lasandra Wilson had 2 and Demetrice Shelton scored a single point.
For the Lady Lions, Williams had a strong outing with 19 points.
Galy added 12 points in the losing effort.
Southside came out swinging.
Marzette hit from long range and had a deuce as she scored 5 points in each of the first two quarters.
Broadnax added 6 points in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers jumped to a 16-9 advantage.
The second quarter was a carbon-copy of the first as Southside again outscored Central Hayneville, 16-9, and took a 32-18 lead into the break.
A different Lady Lions’ team showed up in the third quarter.
They scored 17 points to cut the lead to 43-35.
The Lady Lions made a push at the end but 6 points in the final quarter from Thigpen helped the Lady Panthers hang on for the win.
Southside improved to 8-3, overall and 2-0 in area play.
