Lady Lions take home first win

ORRVILLE&045;With under five minutes left in the game, Raymond Rucker’s Keith team trailed Central Hayneville by just two at 29-27. But led by spark plug Shondra Williams, the Lady Lions exploded on an 11-2 run to take their first win of the season, 41-29
The win gave the 1-8 Lions third-place finish in the Dallas County Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Williams scored 9 of her 15 in the final frame to pace the Lions.
Maranda Timmerman finished with 10 points in the game for the Lions.
Kim Galy added 5 and Maloyre Lawrence added 5 points.
Monisha Davis added 3 and Sheneka Boldin and Brittany Kelley had 2 each for the winners.
Veronica Shears led the Lady Bears with 15 points, but she didn’t get much offensive help.
Sabrina Williams was good for 5 while Julia Moore added 3.
Porsche Jackson, Evelyn Mitchell and Vanlisa Jones scored 2 each for the Lady Bears.
Led by a red-hot Shears, the Bears came out looking strong.
They scored 14 points in the first frame and 14-10 after a quarter.
Things slowed down from there.
The Lady Lions took the lead going into the half, but Keith outscored them 6-3 in the third quarter to keep things tight.
A 16-2 advantage in the fourth quarter buried the Lady Bears in the loss.
