After 25 years of working with citizens from its Church Street location, the Selma Social Security Office is making a much-needed move to a new building on Medical Center Parkway.

Social Security District Manager Percy Blackmon Jr. said the change

will provide his staff with added security.

This design will keep clients away from the back portion of the building and give them a place to sit when consulting with Social Security representatives.

There will also be plenty of parking and a number of lights surrounding the property.

Blackmon said the move to 120 Executive Park Lane will take place late next week and the agency should be fully operational by Nov. 24.

The Church Street office will remain open until Nov. 19 for

limited and emergency services.

Blackmon said he is asking residents who have questions about their Social Security checks to contact 1-800-772-1213 or visit the Web site www.socialsecurity.gov.

The district manager said he and his staff are excited about working in a larger building with more storage space.

The Selma agency serves residents of Chilton, Choctaw, Dallas, Marengo, Perry, Sumter and Wilcox counties.

The new building is located near Vaughan Regional Medical Center at Park Place.
