Selma man charged with Todd murder

A Selma man has been charged with capital murder in connection to the death of Hermanski Todd, whose body was found in his home during the early morning hours of Sept. 19.

Terrance Vernon Cunningham, 30, was arrested at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after turning himself in to the Selma Police Department.

Cunningham is suspected of shooting Todd multiple times inside the victim’s residence in the 800 block of Lapsley Street.

Green said Cunningham has been charged with capital murder because it is believed that a robbery occurred inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Evidence gathered from the crime scene has been sent to the Alabama Bureau of Investigations Print and Forensics labs and investigators are awaiting the results. &uot;Probable cause existed for the arrest,&uot; Green said. &uot;Investigators are continuing to follow leads and gather evidence.

Numerous witnesses were interviewed and shown lineups.&uot;

Green said other suspects are also being considered in connection to this crime.

So far no motive has been established for the killing, but it appears Cunningham and Todd knew each other.

Cunningham is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing.
