An apparent disagreement over a beer is being blamed for the shooting of a 25-year-old Dallas County man Wednesday night.
According to Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman Jr., deputies were notified of a shooting at a playground on Avenue C of the Pine Glen Estates Wednesday around 7:30 p.m.
The victim was identified as Carnell Gilyard, 25, of Keesler Drive in Pine Glen Estates.
Gilyard was taken by Haynes Ambulance to Vaughan Regional Medical Center, where it was discovered that he had suffered internal injuries and was flown to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Deputies believe Gilyard was shot with a small-caliber handgun. His condition is not known at this time.
Chief Deputy Randy Pugh said deputies arrived on the scene quickly because an off-duty deputy was working security at nearby Craig Field.
Huffman said witnesses at the scene were reluctant to provide much information. &uot;People sometimes don’t want to get involved,&uot; he said. &uot;But we have some leads and we’re working on it.&uot;
Huffman described the suspect as a black male, about 19, who was driving a black hatchback car.
