Mary Gamble

Mary Gamble, 85, of Selma, died Sunday, August 31, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 7, at Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. W. C. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Billy Joe (Sandra) Gamble, Willie (Mattie Ann) Gamble, Willie (Bunny) Young Gamble and Will (Beverly) Ellis; daughters, Hattie (Willie James) Harville, Lela (Ernest) Pyles), Anna (Ronald) Kailam and Dora (Calvin) Johnson; sisters, Dollie M. Jackson, Susie Matthews and Sara Cauller; 35 grandchildren; 17 grandchildren; five sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers are grandchildren and sons-in-law.

Arelia M. Smith

Arelia M. Smith, 87, of Sardis, died Thursday, September 4, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 8, at New Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. C. Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Wade Smith of Sardis and Warren Smith of Canton, Ohio; four daughters, Lula Moultrie of Selma, Barbara Nocho of Youngstown, Ohio, Mable Peoples of Sardis and Glenda (Charlie) Marshall of Canton, Ohio.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Janice Woolley Kooser

Janice Woolley Kooser, 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.,

formerly of North Perry County and Selma, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at a Fort Walton Beach hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandy Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in North Perry County with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Vernon H. Kooser, her father G.B. Woolley, her mother Mary Gay Barnette Woolley, brother James Kenneth Woolley, and sister Mary Elizabeth Woolley.

Survivors include her sons, Vernon H. (Angie) Kooser, Jr. of Crestview, Fla., Christopher Kooser of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Cynthia Kooser (Graham) Forte of Destin, Fla.; grandchildren, Isla Forte and Kayleigh Kooser; brother, W. Kendall (Barbara) Woolley of Niceville, Fla.; sisters, June Pyle of Birmingham, Edna (Roy) Wright of Adamsville, Sybil (Joe) Whitacre of Valley Grande, and twin sister Jeanette (Ray) Gutkowski of Vestavia Hills.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
