It’s official.
Selma’s finally getting a place at the table being set for Hyundai automotive suppliers.
The official announcement is set for 10 a.m. today at the Centre for Commerce.
Security surrounding the exact detailed remained tight. But Vardaman did confirm that the announcement would involve &uot;a tier one automotive supplier making a commitment to locate multiple tier two suppliers in the Selma area.&uot;
He estimated that it could result in as many as 100 to 400 jobs over the next several years.
That’s about to change with tomorrow’s announcement.
Hyundai Motor Co. announced last year that it plans build a $1 billion automotive manufacturing plant in Hope Hull, just south of Montgomery. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2005. A tier one supplier is considered to be a major supplier to the main plant. A tier two supplier is considered to be a secondary supplier.
The Centre for Commerce is located at 912 Selma Ave.
