The inaugural Times-Journal Players of the Week for 2003, Central Christian’s T’ Chelpio &uot;Tee&uot; Woods and Southside’s Gerarde Shanks, earned their honors in very different ways.

Woods, the Warriors quarterback, ran for over 100 yards and threw for 165 in a win over Ashford.

He accounted for three touchdowns in the 34-0 wipeout.

On the other side Shanks earned his honor by preventing touchdowns.

The senior linebacker recorded 15 and a half tackles in the Panthers win over the Saints.

Led by Shanks, the Panthers defense bottled up Selma all night and kept the game close until the offense pulled it out in the end.
