Radio personality going strong

Radio personality Jannie Venter, famously known for her catch phrase &uot;This is the host with the most &045;&045; the double dose!&uot;, is celebrating 30 years on the air.
The WHBB Sunday evening announcer says she has no intention of slowing down or signing off anytime soon.
Venter said she got her first taste of doing radio after she and her husband, a minister, began broadcasting their Sunday sermons. Later on, Venter was given the opportunity to host her own show playing gospel music.
The disc jockey has seen many changes in gospel music over the years, and her show is always kept up-to-date with the latest artists.
Venter said she is fine with using compact discs and new computer technology when playing her music, but she still has a soft spot for her old turn-table.
Venter said she rarely goes into work with a set song list to play. She just lets herself be &uot;led by the Lord.&uot;
Whenever she is not playing gospel music over the airwaves, Venter spends her free time singing it herself in church choirs, solos, and various other functions.
Venter said she has been a lover of gospel music since grammar school, and enjoys having her job where she can share her favorites with others.
On Sept. 14 WHBB is sponsoring an anniversary party for Venter at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center.
Several gospel groups will be performing at the celebration and tickets for the event are currently on sale.
